A millenia ago, the first of the Realised appeared. They had simple but extraordinary abilities. The ability to fly, the ability to breathe underwater, things like that. They called these abilities Skills, and they were given based on a Realised's 'Concept' through a game-like screen. They were a scientific marvel, and still are.
Following their appearance were Splinters, people who had too many negative emotions during Realisation. The emotions broke their souls, sending them into a rampage. Back then, the Realised would have killed them immediately, as they posed a threat to citizens, but now they could subdue and, if lucky, repair the Splinter's soul.
This is what I learnt by searching through the internet on my phone. At least, I think it's my phone.
