Chapter 2 - Familia

As Julius followed Hestia he looked around. Seeing it from memory was one thing but seeing it in person was another feeling. It looked like a medieval city from those live action shows. But what caught his attention was the large tower. The dungeon, that tower was the dungeon.

To gain strength he needed to enter the dungeon but before that he needed to convert his current Falna into Hestia's Falna, a process called conversion. Simple in its name. But doing such things is akin to a declaration.

A declaration that one says a god saw saw something where another saw trash. It could create rivalries between gods. And because of this not many gods do this. But Hestia was different. She was a kind god, too kind for her good.

As long as she saw someone in need she would help that was the type of being she was. Of course Julius knew a little of Hestia the Goddess of the Hearth. But it is only limited to his previous world. In this world she may be vastly different.

After 10 minutes they arrived at a rundown church. Staring at the state of the church he understood her situation. The reason she was so eager to find people to join her Familia. Her situation wasn't good either.

That meant he needed to grow faster to improve their situation. Moving his eyes he stared at the floating screen in front of him. Only he could see it he assumed since no one else said anything about it.

Name: Julius

Age:15

Level:1

Stats-

Strength: E

Endurance: E

Dexterity: F

Agility: E

Magic: I

Skill -

Flame Breathing

Staring at the I in magic he frowned. All the other stats were close to the D rank but magic was his weakest point. Most likely because he had never used magic before.

This world has a stat system from SSS, SS, S, A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I. SSS being the highest and I being the lowest. After each level up the stats would become zero though not resetted. It will become invisible to the current level.

If possible he wanted to make all his stats reach the SSS rank before leveling up. This will create a great base for him. Of course this means it will take an extremely long time. But if he manages to reach SSS rank of in agility it would be significantly easier to run around and kill low level monster to get magic stones.

Since he has a skill that focuses on physicality, the best plan for him is to max out agility since its unique function lets him have a near infinite amount of stamina as long as his body has nutrients left. It could be a great trump card if he can't beat the monsters in the dungeon with his body alone. But that doesn't mean he can't improve his other stats in the process.

Gaining stats is very simple. For example, if one wants to gain strength they can wield a heavy blade. Or if one one wanted to gain Agility they would run constantly. Other than his Agility he wanted to improve his strength and Dexterity. This would help him avoid attacks that would deal a huge amount of damage.

And then after he would focus on endurance. In his opinion endurance would probably be the most difficult. Constantly needing to be hit is quite a hassle to increase defense. Of course that doesn't mean he would not do it since he planned to fight monsters head on with his legs.

As long as he had good endurance he could fight toe to toe with monsters without being to injured.

Entering the church the interior was no better. It looked quite rundown and old. But to Julius it wasn't bad. He had wanted to keep a low profile, with hestia being a newly descended god this will make it easier. If possible he didn't want to draw attention until he was strong enough.

Hestia turned to Julius and Bell. "alright, let me give you the Falna,"

Her words excited Bell as her eyes brightened. But upon seeing Julius she tried to hide her excitement.

"Come on Bell, your first,' Hestia called.

Bell nodded excitedly before walking forwards. Julius, seeing this, turned and walked out the church.

"Call me when you're done," he said.

They both nodded. When engraving the Falna one would normally need to reveal skin and Bell was a girl. Julius didn't want to seem like a pervert so he left. But now that he was alone he could finally try using his new skill.

He took a deep breath and the next moment he paused from the sudden pain. The technique was forcibly expanding his lungs. The skill was useful but he needed to master it first. This skill was a physical skill. He hadn't watched much anime since he had just started. Whatever information he got was from the information that entered his mind after accepting the skill.

He needed to begin practicing in the dungeon. Previously he used a spear for its long reach and versatility and a small knife in case an enemy got too close. But after the attack to his left arm it was impossible to use a spear now. At least with the skill he had back then.

With just one arm he couldn't use such a pole arm easily. That left him with little to few options. Either a one handed weapon or his limbs. He's thought about it. Having gained Flame Breathing if he used it probably he could become extremely fast meaning his legs would become stronger.

That's right, he plans to use his legs. The idea came to mind when he remembered sanji from one piece. He always liked how sanji used his legs because his hands were for cooking. Julius himself actually has a hobby.

The one thing that caught his attention when watching anime for the first time was the opening. The music interested him and that was the start of his hobby. He began to use instruments. He had actually watched anime for close to two years but most of that time was spent listening to the opening and trying to learn it on an instrument.

His favorite instrument was the piano. He could do with instruments what he couldn't do himself…express emotion. He wanted to be like Sanji. Using his legs for fighting and his hands for playing the instruments.

That meant he needed to enter the dungeon to improve his martial arts. But before entering the dungeon he and Bell needed to register with the guild. There they would be able to acquire beginner gear for free.

A few minutes into his inner monologue the door opened behind him and Hestia called out. "Julius, it's your turn"

He turned around already done with what he was doing and entered the rundown church. He took off his shirt revealing his scars and the faded Falna on his back. His muscles were quite toned from all the running around he had to do as a porter.

His 6 feet tall frame made him look quite menacing especially with his detached face. The two were quite shocked by the amount of scars. But Hestia was mostly shocked by the Falna on his back.

"Y-you were part of a Familia?" she asked, surprise in her voice.

He nodded.

"I was before I was kicked out," he replied.

The place fell silent. Even Bell became curious. She still didn't understand what it meant for a person to be kicked from a Familia.

"Why?' Bell asked quietly.

Julius didn't explain and his left arm began to move. It was constantly shaking as it moved. He then leaned down and attempted to pick up the cup on the old table but he could even grip onto it. The answer was clear. It was because of his left arm.

Hestia felt pity for him and hugged him as she patted his head. She didn't say anything but her actions were clear. She was comforting Julius. He remained quiet, not uttering a single word. He didn't understand what she was doing but didn't interrupt since for some reason it felt soothing.

After they separated she smiled gently at him. "Alright, let's get you that Falna" she said.

He nodded and turned his back to her. She began the process and took out a piece of paper and a needle. She then pricked her own finger and began chanting. The Falna on his back began to change and morph into a completely different one confirming that he was now a part of the Hestia Familia.

She then read his stats and paused for a moment. Her eyes brightened. "Wow, you have a skill" she blurted out in excitement.

It was rare for adventures to have skill on level one. People like that were sought out by powerful Familias and one willingly walked into her door. She couldn't help but be excited. She then put the paper on his back and chanted before words appeared on the paper.

Getting up she handed the paper to him. He took it from her and read it. It had everything that he saw on his status screen. From the corner of his eye he saw Bell staring, curiosity in her eyes.

He handed the paper to her. surprised she shook her head in embarrassment. "Sorry for staring," she tried to say.

"It's fine, I don't mind."

His words only made her even more embarrassed. Seeing that he still held up the paper she took it. He didn't mind if others in his Familia knew about his skills. It's actually better that way since it would be better for team fights.

She in turn gave her own paper to him. He took it without a second thought and began reading it. Her stats were a blank slate, all zeros. It was to be expected since she was just given a blessing, that being the Falna. But that made things perfect. she was a blank slate and he could forge her into a support but it would ultimately be her choice.

Note: If you like them drop some stones.
