A late winter afternoon. Soft golden light spread across the sky. Arif was sitting by the riverbank. The gentle cold breeze was tousling his hair, but his eyes were fixed somewhere far away — as if he were waiting for someone.
Suddenly, at the sound of footsteps, he turned around.
Neela.
Wrapped in a blue shawl, with a strange calmness in her eyes and a sweet smile on her face. Even the glow of the afternoon seemed to fade in front of her.
"Have you been waiting long?" Neela asked softly.
Arif smiled a little and said,
"I never get tired of waiting for you."
Neela sat down beside him. The river water flowed slowly. Both of them remained silent for a while.
