"We'll explain everything to her once she's fully awake and stable enough to understand it. Right now, rest is more useful to her than fear."
Santiago nodded. He looked down at Daniella again, his thumb moving slowly over the back of her hand. From the moment blood had appeared, he allowed himself to believe that perhaps they had caught the problem before it became something worse.
But he knew better than to celebrate yet.
Camilla was still in intensive care.
Daniella was still under observation.
And the baby they had almost lost today was still depending on them to keep fighting.
Santiago remained beside her without moving, while Dr. Elias continued watching the monitors, refusing to let his attention wander for even a moment.
The afternoon was far from over.
