Chapter 5 - [5] Run in With Jody-Law

'I got lucky, Sioux Falls is a big enough town to have its own twenty-four hour Wal-Mart Super Center!' I can't help but think as I load my five hundred dollars worth of purchases into Bobby's Chevelle, also helpfully found out that the year is two-thousand and five, so five hundred dollars stretched pretty fucking far, and that I'm about six months from John going dark and Dean recruiting Sam in searching for their Dad, and Jessica getting tortured and roasted by demon Bradley.

The chirp of a quickly turned on and off police siren nearly makes me jump out of my skin, I turn around and find Jody Mills looking me over from her Police Cruiser.

"You're not Bobby Singer, but that's his car…" Jody Mills says to me as she puts her car into park and starts reaching to unbuckle her seatbelt.

"That would be correct officer…" I look to Jody's chest for her name tags which catches the light of the parking lot lamps, "Officer Mills, I am Uncle Bobby's godson, or at least that's what he tells me I don't remember much anything since the day before yesterday, I guess I hit my head pretty hard in an accident and spent a bit of time in a coma. I moved in with him earlier today, since I guess my parents died in that same car accident. But Uncle Bobby's place is so filthy it makes my skin itch and there aren't any cleaning supplies so I borrowed his car to come get some…I hope I'm not in any trouble…?" I bullshit like my life depends on it and the soft gentle look that develops in Jody Mills's eyes tells me I'm safe, even as she gets out of her cruiser and looks at my purchases finding some pairs of sweat clothes, underwear and socks along with cleaning supplies and junk snack food.

Jody let's out a soft scoff and turns to look at me with an amused expression and soft warm eyes, "Even without memories, you shop like a teenage boy, do you know if you have a driver's license?" Jody asks me as an uncertain expression crosses her face.

"Umm, can I reach into my pocket? At the hospital it showed a cop shooting someone for reaching into their pocket to take out their wallet, I mean you seem really nice and you're probably the prettiest woman I've ever seen in my life, but still I figure it's best I ask first." I ramble on and try to butter up Jody who looks amused, concerned and maybe a little flattered.

'Okay, yes I'm acting like a bumbling idiot but I've had a long standing crush on Jody Mills, maybe it's a woman in uniform thing or that she's a hot cop mommy…but yeah.' I try to explain myself to myself while pulling out my black wallet at her nod. Opening it up is a New York State Driver's license, and my birthday is July 22 1986 putting me at eighteen, I hand the license over to Jody who looks it over and hands it back to me.

"Okay, your license is valid and you made it here safely so it's safe to say, you know what you're doing, even if you don't know anything else…well I won't keep you any longer, and tell Bobby I better not catch him driving after a few too many drinks for the next six months." Jodi says and starts to reach up to touch my hair but her hand freezes and she pulls it back, a look of loss and fresh hurt flashing in her eyes before she plasters a fake smile on her face.

"I will do my best to make sure Uncle Bobby doesn't drink and drive Officer Mills…it has been very nice meeting you by the way, you're the sixth person that I've met since waking up." I say to her with a silly little smile on my face and gain a flicker of something flashing in her expression before she smoothes it over.

"Maybe I should follow you back to Singer's place, just to be on the safe side…" Jody hums in a worried mom voice that makes me feel a certain way, but then her walkie-talkie crackles, "Sheriff Mills, we got a Domestic disturbance call at Granger's place, it seems Bill is at it again." A man's voice sounds from the walkie-talkie.

"Alright Emerson, I'm on my way now, send Officer Clark to back me up." Jody says and begins speed walking to her cruiser.

"On it boss!" The man's voice crackles over the radio.

Jody pauses half way into her cruiser, a concerned mothering look on her face as she looks at me, "Please drive safe Matthew." Jody says to me and I might be imagining it but her voice almost sounds as though it is trembling.

"I will, I promise…" I offer what I hope is a reassuring smile, it seems to satisfy Jody enough because she gets into her cruiser, hooks her seat belt, turns on the light and sirens and peels out of the parking lot.

"Fuck that's hot!" A groan slips out of me from my admiration of the hot cop Mommy's burning rubber and drifting into the street.

'She can arrest me anytime, get some naughty sexy cop mommy sheriff Mills and handsome young delinquent one on one time…Dude, stop it's so not going to happen, like ever, you banging Jessica is more likely to happen than you banging Sheriff Mills…' My thoughts are rather erratic and perverse as I get into the Chevelle and drive back to Bobby's place.

Pulling into the driveway and up to the house, I turn off the ignition, get out of the Chevelle, and start carrying everything into the house, piling everything up on the eating table and the chairs I start getting out the cleaning supplies, I set to work cleaning up Bobby's house, I go through half a package of Swiffer mop pads just getting the kitchen floor clean.

'This place could use some fresh paint too…' I hum thoughtfully as I keep going careful not to damage any books, ingredients, scrolls and the miscellaneous shit Bobby has cluttering his home.

By the time the sun rises on a new day the downstairs of the house is clean, books are organized by what kinds of things they're about, what kinda religions they're connected to and the label maker I bought actually comes in useful.

Bobby comes downstairs, revolver in hand, takes one look around the place, grabs his arm, drops his revolver and falls to his knees, I rush to the phone and dial 911.

"This is Nine-one-one, what is your emergency?" An operator asks over the phone.

"Hi, my uncle seems to be displaying the signs of a heart attack. His address is 2194 Singer's Auto and Salvage Yard, Sioux Falls, South Dakota he's in the living room of the house." I say into the phone while feeling a deep sense of panic over possibly killing one of the best characters in Supernatural…just from cleaning a portion of his house.

"Emergency Technicians are being dispatched, please stay on the line with me until they arrive." The operator says and Bobby points to his desk and I remember the small bottles of pills, one of high strength Aspirin and nitroglycerin.

I sprint to the desk, grab out the pill bottles, sprint back to Bobby, force an aspirin into his mouth, Bobby manages to chew the aspirin, and swallow them I help him place the small nitroglycerin underneath his tongue.

I hear the sirens long before they reach the house, but Bobby doesn't look good.
