Mr. Benson was very proud of his alarm clock.
"It has never failed me," he told everyone—right before it failed him.
One Monday morning, the alarm clock didn't ring.
Not even a tiny beep.
It just sat there in silence, like it was on vacation.
Mr. Benson woke up naturally at 9:47 a.m., opened one eye, and whispered,
"Oh no."
He jumped out of bed, slipped on one sock, tripped over the other sock, and politely apologized to the chair he bumped into.
While brushing his teeth, he tried to put on his tie.
Unfortunately, the tie ended up in his coffee, and the toothbrush went into his pocket.
He ran outside, waving at the neighbor's dog and shouting,
"I'm late!"
The dog was not impressed.
When he finally reached the office, his boss looked at him and said,
"Rough morning?"
Mr. Benson sighed and replied,
"Yes. My alarm clock has decided to retire without notice."
The boss nodded seriously and said,
"I understand. Mine resigned last year. I use my cat now."
From that day on, Mr. Benson never trusted technology again—
and bought a very loud cat.
