Watching Raizen shower the women with such "shameless" wealth, Anko Mitarashi was officially envious. A few ordinary girls and low-level Genin were now living lives far more luxurious than her own as a Jōnin, simply because they had joined the Uchiha.
To say she wasn't jealous would be a lie.
"Little Bean, if you want it that much, go take the mission," Kurenai teased. "Raizen-kun hasn't closed it yet. The 'Seeking Heirs' mission is a long-term request. There's still time to sign up."
"Though," Kurenai added with a smirk, "Raizen-kun might not even spare a glance at a 'Little Bean' like you."
"Hmph!" Anko huffed, puffing out her chest defiantly. "What man doesn't love a woman with my... assets? If I so much as beckoned Uchiha Raizen with a finger, he'd be falling at my feet in an instant."
"Assets? You're a bean, Anko. A little bean," Kurenai muttered, poking fun at her.
"Fine! Once I've charmed Uchiha Raizen, I'll make sure he kicks you to the curb!" Anko snapped back.
"Go on then, if you're so capable," Kurenai challenged.
"You little... just you wait!" Anko started stomping toward Raizen's group.
"Wait! No! I was kidding, don't actually go!" Seeing Anko was serious, Kurenai panicked and grabbed her arm, pulling her back.
"Hehe. Little Kurenai, do you still dare to get cheeky with me?" Anko smirked, looking down at her friend with a triumphant glint in her eye.
Kurenai immediately surrendered. "I don't dare, I don't dare. Just don't go over there. It would be so awkward if we met like this."
"Hahaha!" Seeing Kurenai admit defeat, Anko let out a boisterous laugh. After a moment, she turned serious. "But seriously, Kurenai... what exactly is your status with Raizen?"
"Raizen-kun said that once the children are born, he'll officially marry me into the clan with a proper ceremony," Kurenai said, her face turning a deep red.
"How long is that going to take? What if he goes back on his word?" Anko asked skeptically.
"I believe in him," Kurenai said firmly.
"Men aren't to be trusted—especially one who's a world-class playboy," Anko warned.
Kurenai shook her head. "Raizen-kun isn't a playboy. Everything he's doing is for the sake of the Uchiha clan. He's sincere with me, and I'm sincere with him."
"I hope so," Anko muttered, raising a small fist. "But if he ever dares to break your heart, I'll personally cut off his 'third leg' to settle the score for you."
"You're so violent, it's no wonder no man dares to chase you," Kurenai joked.
"Oh? I'm helping you and you're making fun of me? That's it, I'm going to seduce him right now!" Anko made a fake lunge forward.
"No, no, no! My mistake! I'll buy you sweet dango later, just stay here!" Kurenai cried, desperately holding her back.
"Hehehe, let's see you try that again." Anko wore a smile of victory. "Fine, let's get out of here. No more peeping."
Kurenai quickly dragged Anko away. If that loudmouth actually went over there, Kurenai would die of embarrassment.
Raizen hadn't noticed them. After buying a mountain of supplies, he sent Momoko and the others home while he headed back to the Hokage Building.
"Lord Third! Lord Raizen is... he's here again!" the new secretary cried as she burst into Hiruzen's office.
"What?!" Hiruzen bolted upright. Is this kid never-ending? He already drank my entire private tea collection, what else does he want to ruin?
A second later, Raizen sauntered in. "Hey, Lord Third! A day apart feels like three years. I missed you!"
He sat down across from Hiruzen with familiar ease.
"What do you want today?" Hiruzen asked, looking utterly drained. "I told you, you've graduated! You don't need to ask me about the Will of Fire anymore!"
"Relax, Lord Third. I'm not here for a philosophy lesson today," Raizen laughed.
"Then why are you here?" Hiruzen's brow twitched.
"I'm here to post a mission. I need to hire a team of domestic workers."
"Servants?" Hiruzen looked confused. "With all those women in your house, you still need servants?"
"Well, they're all pregnant now," Raizen said matter-of-factly. "I need someone to look after them."
"All of them?" Hiruzen's eyes nearly popped out of his head.
Raizen grinned. "Every single one. The Uchiha clan will be thriving again in no time."
"Ah... to be young," Hiruzen sighed, a hint of genuine envy creeping in. In his youth, Biwako had kept him on a very short leash; he had the heart of a lion but the courage of a mouse. Now that he was old, he had the heart but lacked the physical stamina. "If you want to hire people, go to the Mission Hall. You don't need to see me for that."
"But I was worried about you, Lord Third! I had to come say hello." Raizen stood up to leave, but at the door, he turned back with a mischievous glint in his eye. "By the way, Lord Third... your new secretary, Haruko, seems very capable. How about you do me a favor and let her work for me instead?"
"Get out!" Hiruzen barked. He had already "lost" Momoko to this brat; now the kid was eyeing his new assistant.
"Don't be so stingy, Lord Third," Raizen chuckled.
"OUT!" Hiruzen's face was turning black with rage.
"Hahaha!" Raizen laughed and walked out.
In the hallway, he ran into the secretary, Haruko.
"Hey, Haruko. A day without seeing you, and you've become even more beautiful," Raizen said with a wink.
"Lord Raizen, you certainly have a way with words," Haruko replied, a light blush on her cheeks.
"Haruko, I'm looking for some help with cooking and cleaning. Are you interested in a new job?"
"Lord Raizen, please don't tease me," she said shyly.
"I'm not teasing. I'm serious. You're so hardworking and kind; I know you'd take excellent care of my home."
"I'm sorry, Lord Raizen, but I can't accept," Haruko said, shaking her head.
"Don't be so quick to say no. Listen to the offer first," Raizen whispered, leaning in. "Room and board included. Ten thousand Ryo a month. Plus... one bottle of Papaya Nutritious Juice."
"Ten thousand?" Haruko gasped. A Hokage's secretary only made three thousand Ryo a month. This was more than triple her current salary.
Seeing her resolve waver, Raizen struck while the iron was hot. "Haruko, this juice... it doesn't just whiten your skin. It helps with... 'secondary development.' You don't want to spend your life being self-conscious while envying everyone else, do you?"
