Chapter 85 - Ch 85: Current affairs

Let me tell you about current affairs after a year, other than the fact that Yuji will be joining the school. Yuta, just like in the canon, disappeared to somewhere for what is named 'self-enlightenment,' and Gojo just nodded along.

Of course, the higher-ups didn't like that, but they didn't have the power to stop Gojo either. To be truthful, that silver-haired bastard is unfair. Think about it: he has a good family background, is the strongest, has political connections, and even has money. He at least needs some nerfing. I am still waiting for 'Dev' to patch his unfair way of living.

Not that I can complain, as I also have a golden spoon. But mine is trying to bring me down, which is also something I can't complain about, as I control the situation in that way.

The next important thing is after the hospital incident with Maki, where I, unfortunately, went beyond my reason, I arranged words in a format that seems to somehow have made the flame in Maki's and Mai's hearts burn brighter. I understand about Maki feeling intensified, but I can't comprehend Mai.

One of the examples is they got very touchy with me; one time Maki managed to sneak into my room, and when I woke up, her hand was on my morning wood.

Of course, she said it was an accident. But there are no accidents in this world. She groped me and made excuses.

Because of that, I was very stiff with them, and I also, multiple times, made my stance known: I was not interested in them, indirectly, of course.

The reason why I didn't say it directly is because...because... I didn't have an explanation. It's just that I like both of them a lot, even Mei; they are the only thing, I believe in my heart, that I care about to some extent. And want them to, for reasons beyond my comprehension, like me. Not in a romantic way but instead in a family way, I just want to hear those small, caring gestures—a simple "How was your day?" or "Did you eat?"—that make life feel a little less lonely. I know it's quite selfish for me, but...

Cursed are those who still haven't learned anything from their own past. And I am such a cursed existence, as, instead of putting an end to such a life, a second chance was given to me. Maybe there is some kind of comic irony in my suffering.

Haaa, I would never understand that.

"Naoya-sama, did you wake up? Breakfast is ready."

The next thing was Manami Suda becoming my secretary. Yeah, that pink-haired crybaby, who almost made me a public enemy, became my secretary. Don't even ask me how; the thing that happened after I dropped her off at the hotel was batshit crazy.

This girl tried to commit suicide by hanging on the ceiling fan. For some god-forsaken miracle, someone saw that from the opposite building and called the hotel board, and the hotel board called me. Following that, there was a lot of interrogation and stuff. It was then I realized that when you are dead, there are formalities, but if you escape one, you wish you would have died.

After all that was over, I asked Suda why she tried to commit suicide. She said it was because I said nobody cared about her and she had no one to care, and she felt lonely about that. If she decided to end her life because of that, I should have ended mine decades ago; that's what was in my mind when she said the reason.

If you decided to help someone, do it until the end. It's one of the policies I try to live by. Because of that, I decided to take her under my wings.

"Itadakimasu."

"Itadakimasu."

Both Suda and I said as we silently eat our breakfast.

"Are you going to attend today's class, Naoya-sama?"

"For fuck's sake, Manami, call me Naoya. How many times have I told you I didn't like titles?" Without minding my words at all, she, with her practiced indifferent face, continued.

"You haven't answered my question, Sir Naoya Zenin-sama-sama." She added a second 'sama' just to spit on my face. How dare she? I am the boss here.

"Are you feeling angry, Naoya-sama?"

"I am not." Taking her in was the biggest mistake of my life. She literally controls my life now, and she constantly nags me. Sigh, this is not good for my mental health at all. "Anyway, I will be going to school; I needed to meet the new transfer student."

"Yuji Itadori, I presume." I nodded at her words as she continued, "I heard he is a vessel to the King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna."

How did she know? That was my question. The thing about Yuji still hasn't been made public yet, so not many people know.

As if reading my mind. "It was on the report that was placed on the table."

No way, is it that easy to read what I am thinking?

"It's on your face, Naoya-sama."

God damn it. I didn't like her at all.
