Chapter 1 - The Promise of Seven Years

Long ago… in a small village called Tilakpur…

there lived a man blessed with unimaginable wealth.

Gold filled his coffers…

but the true jewel of his life…

was his daughter… Chandrika.

She was beauty wrapped in grace…

and her laughter felt like spring after a long winter.

In that same village lived a poor young singer… Ramu.

He owned no land…

no riches…

no power.

But when he sang…

even the wind stopped to listen.

It was at a wedding… beneath strings of glowing lanterns…

that Ramu first saw Chandrika.

And in that single moment…

two destinies intertwined.

"I will return in seven years," Ramu promised.

"I will earn success on my own… and then come back for you."

Chandrika's voice trembled,

"I will wait."

And so he left…

with nothing but hope in his heart.

But fate had teeth.

At a roaring river, betrayal struck.

Virendra… the man who secretly loved Chandrika…

tricked Ramu…

stole his belongings…

and rode back to Tilakpur with a lie.

"Ramu drowned," he told the village.

Ramu's mother wept…

until darkness swallowed her sight.

But Chandrika did not believe it.

"Until seven years pass," she whispered,

"I will not marry anyone."

Far away, Ramu survived.

He sang in distant villages…

his voice growing stronger…

his name spreading farther.

Eventually, he reached a royal court.

The king himself was captivated.

Gold and luxury surrounded him.

But sometimes…

comfort makes us forget the promises we once made.

One day…

he heard the sound of his old sarangi.

Memories returned like lightning in the dark.

Only seven days remained.

The journey required thirty.

Still… he rode.

He fell.

Unconscious.

Alone.

When he awoke, a sage stood beside him.

"True love does not belong to cowards," the sage said.

He gifted Ramu a white horse…

swift as the wind…

and sacred soil with healing power.

On the seventh night…

Ramu reached Tilakpur.

The village glittered with wedding lights.

Chandrika was about to marry Virendra.

In her hand… poison.

In her heart… despair.

Then—

A voice echoed through the courtyard.

Her breath stopped.

She knew that voice.

She dropped the poison.

She ran.

And in front of everyone…

she embraced the man she had waited seven long years for.

Truth unfolded.

Virendra stood silent.

"What is not written in destiny… cannot be forced," he said quietly.

Ramu placed the sacred soil upon his mother's eyes.

Slowly…

light returned.

"My son…" she whispered.

That night, two weddings were celebrated.

Love reunited.

Betrayal dissolved.

And patience was rewarded.

Love is not measured by wealth.

It is tested by time.

Promises may bend…

but true hearts never break.

And when faith remains unshaken…

even destiny changes its path.
