Chapter 33 - the accidental confession

Chapter: "The Accidental Confession"

(Jay's POV)

I should have just stayed silent.

Really, I should have.

But… of course… I didn't.

It all started when Keifer cornered me by the lockers again.

"You're still avoiding me," he said, smirking.

"I'm NOT avoiding you!" I snapped, fists clenched.

"You are," he teased. "It's cute though."

I threw my hands up. "Cute?! You're impossible!"

"You love impossible," he replied smoothly, leaning dangerously close.

I froze. His closeness… his smirk… his stupid teasing eyes…

"I—" I started, then stopped.

"Say what?" he asked, grin widening.

"I—don't… care… if you—annoy me!" I blurted out.

Silence.

He froze.

I blinked.

Did I just—

"Yes, you did," he said softly, almost laughing. "Did you just say you care?"

"I—I didn't mean it like that!" I exclaimed, flailing my hands.

He leaned even closer. "Oh? So you do care?"

"I—uhhh—" My brain was officially offline.

"See?" he whispered teasingly. "You do care. You're just mad because you can't admit it."

I wanted to stomp, punch, hide, and vanish all at once.

"I DO NOT—"

"You do."

I glared at him, my face burning. "I—"

He smirked. "It's okay, wife. I already know."

I froze.

"W-WHAT?!"

"Yes. You can't lie to me." He winked.

I wanted to crawl under a locker and never come out.

Behind us, Section E was quietly… watching.

Felix whispered, "Bro… she just confessed."

Cin gasped dramatically. "FINALLY!"

David muttered, "She didn't even know it herself."

Rory clapped softly. "Perfect timing for entertainment."

Blaster shook his head. "I'm honored to witness this."

Mayo whispered, "She's blushing."

I could feel everyone's eyes on me, but the worst part?

Keifer wasn't looking at anyone else.

Just me.

"See?" he said softly, leaning close again. "You care."

"I—" I started, then stomped away.

"Where are you going?" he called.

"TO CLASS!" I shouted.

He grinned. "Catch me if you care, wife."

And yes. I knew it was too late.

I cared.

Whether I wanted to admit it or not.

And Section E?

They were already plotting the next dramatic moment.
