Alaric walked out of the room in which Eldrin was.
Before he closed the door, he could clearly hear the sound produced by the bursting of the head.
He walked toward the entrance. His boots were covered in blood, leaving a mark of blood on the floor. He glared at what he had done to these people. Their heads burst open, pieces of brain lying around.
It was then that he noticed a knife in the hands of the boy. And he knew who stabbed Eldrin three times before he came. He glared at the knife but instantly shook his head as he searched for the kitchen.
The kitchen was just in front of the room. He didn't waste too much time thinking about what he did. He grabbed the blue coal liquid gas and threw it where he slaughtered everyone, then lit a matchstick.
He marched toward the entrance door where the door used to be. And the moment he stepped out, he threw the matchstick where the blue coal liquid gas was present. With a huge blast, the whole house was set on fire.
Alaric ran toward the same area from where he entered and left. The fire started dancing. The snow couldn't help in any way.
"It's always not enough." Alaric whispered slowly while running toward Mark Kruch's estate.
His thoughts were not just messy, they were now completely different perspectives. He glared at his Singularity. He had expected something supernatural to happen, but this bursting of the head, he could have never expected this in his wildest dreams.
*What am I doing?....Calm down....it's-its okay just live. It's a phase of life....just let it happen.*
*In a way...I revenged Eldrin. He was being killed by his relatives and I killed his relatives and him. But why did they or he want to kill Eldrin? And why tonight?*
*Anyways....I can't change it...and I shouldn't waste my energy thinking about it. He stabbed him and I finished them, nothing more.*
*I need to run faster...because the fire must have definitely caught attention by now. If I don't do it fast, then I won't be able to complete it.*
*How much time does it take for the police to come here? Officials won't come for a Western Sector matter. So the police station may take..uh.. probably fifty minutes. That's all I have, fifty minutes to finish the last two sacks of meat and return home.*
Alaric glared at the Singularity and smirked.
Alaric tore through the dark, snow-choked streets like a runaway engine, his boots biting hard into the slush. Fifty minutes. The number hammered against his skull in sync with his pounding heart.
Behind him, the sky was already turning a sickening shade of bruised purple as the blue coal fire gorged itself on the Ashworth estate. The municipal guards would be mobilizing their steam-carriages soon. He had no time to digest the horror of what he'd just witnessed: the split skulls, the wet splatters, the surreal sight of that boy standing over Eldrin's bleeding body with a carving knife.
*Why were they already killing him? Who cares. Dead capital is dead capital. Move on.*
His lungs burned, but his legs—those beautifully mended, impossible legs—refused to tire. The biological mutilation from the void wasn't just a curse, it was a ruthless upgrade.
He didn't feel the biting December frost. He didn't feel the weight of his charcoal suit. He only felt the cold, unyielding urge to balance the remaining books.
Up ahead, the looming, fortress-like walls of the Kruch Estate blocked the horizon. Unlike Eldrin's place, this mansion was heavily guarded, boasting thick granite reinforcements meant to withstand a lower-sector riot.
Alaric didn't even slow his pace. He skidded to a halt against the dark stone, his bamboo mask scraping against the frozen ivy clinging to the wall.
"No sacrifices," he hissed through his teeth, his voice a ragged whisper. "Not for this scum."
He raised his right hand. Alaric slammed the tip of the blade directly into the structural seam of the wall.
The reaction was instantaneous and horrifyingly quiet. Where the cosmic metal pierced the stone, reality simply gave up. The massive granite blocks didn't crack, they were sucked violently, vacuumed into the blade's edge.
Alaric dragged the weapon down in a vicious, jagged zigzag, systematically erasing a five-foot section of the reinforced wall into absolute nothingness. The stone disappeared into the anchor behind his ribs, leaving a perfectly smooth, unblemished archway leading straight into Kruch's private gardens.
No debris fell. No alarms tripped.
Alaric ripped the blade free and stepped through the void he had just carved, his eyes locking onto the glowing, secure windows of Mark Kruch's study. The second sack of meat was inside, completely unaware that his audit had just arrived.
He rushed toward the window. Without any hesitation, he stabbed the glass window. And just like any other object, it got sucked into nothingness.
Alaric entered through the place where the glass window used to be. Mark Kruch was lying on his bed, completely red, murmuring random things.
"You..... orphan....child of devil..you dare-"
The moment Alaric heard "child of devil," he knew exactly whom he was talking about. Mark turned his head toward Alaric.
"Who are.... you ?" he asked, looking dazed. He started scratching his head.
Alaric walked forward and touched his head with the hand in which he was not holding his Lumen Siphon.
"I'm your Security Sir." Alaric answered nonchalantly.
"Oh i see...i see." Mark whispered under his breath, and immediately added, " Don't let anyone enter especially that...Child of Devil."
Alaric's knuckles went white.
"Who is this Child of Devil Sir ?" he asked, trying his best to be calm.
"I have a gut feeling.... something is bad."
Alaric pressured the very same hand by which he was touching Mark's head.
"I asked..Who is Child of Devil ? And who started that sucking rumour ?"
"Child of devil is.....wait how do you know about the rumour." Mark's eyes widened.
Alaric released the hand by which he was touching Mark's head.
"If someone start a rumour about a person , the person must know that a rumour about him has started."
"Alaric." The moment he realized that the person in front of him was Alaric, he started going backward in his bed, his hand touching the bed and jumping as he searched for a weapon.
Alaric didn't waste another breath on him. He raised his Singularity and jumped on his bed. Even before Mark could process what was happening, Alaric had already stabbed the Singularity into his head.
"I don't want answers."
Alaric continued. He knew that Mark was dead, but yet he continued.
"What will answers give ? What will I get knowing who started the Rumour , what will I get knowing why Eldrin relatives kill him ?...why"
It was then that the head burst. A piece of brain landed on Alaric's tailored suit, but Alaric still didn't care.
Alaric stared at Mark's dead body without a head, his neck looking indescribable. Alaric remembered when he was in the police station with Volt, and that police officer—what was his name? Forget it—had shown him roughly chopped limbs of child slaves, and he had been disgusted.
But this time, the feeling of disgust never appeared.
It was exactly then that Alaric's mind broke down.
*Why? Why? It's getting harder and more difficult to kill. It's not what I imagined. It's wild...it's just getting more wild. We humans are truly bizarre.*
Alaric jumped off the bed and went inside the house. The only thing remaining now was to remove the evidence if there was any, and burn the house.
