Chapter 3 - 3. Blacksmith Cultivation System

The system that Jamie got wasn't like the common system where he could level up by learning Godly Cultivation Technique provided by the system, or killing beasts or people to get EXP, or doing quests, or well, any of those.

Jamie's system however, was unusual. Well, there was a system like this in some stories he read back then, but not exactly the same, at least in personality.

[Blacksmith Cultivation System]

"Oh, I love Blacksmiths. I liked watching videos of Blacksmithing back then and I also liked reading stories where the Main Characters were blacksmiths. So, can I make ultra powerful weapons that should be too high for my current level but I can ignore the level restrictions because I am the creator?"

[This is not a game, so there is no level restriction to begin with. Even low-level Cultivators can wield high quality weapons as long as they have money. It's just that they won't be able to unleash the full power of powerful weapons. Some weapons need incredible amounts of energy to use or they can be incredibly heavy despite their sizes. Those with low power won't be able to even lift them. That also applies to you if you are the one who makes them. It's not like you can get discounts on the energy used or the weight reduced just because you made them. Unless those weapons have normal weights and don't require specific amounts of energy to use. They are just very high quality and won't lose to those used by powerful Cultivators so even low-level Cultivators can use them as long as they can get them.]

"Hmm, well, even a kid can lift a very high quality sword. They couldn't unleash its true power, but it would still be sharper and harder than the average weapons."

[Actually, you can become very powerful too if you want. No, you have to be powerful to craft powerful weapons. A mortal Blacksmith can't make an immortal weapon.]

"True."

[You can gain EXP by crafting weapons. Even failed crafting will still give you EXP, just less than when you succeed. You can also gain EXP when your weapons are used to kill.]

"So I have to use my own weapon when fighting?"

[You don't have to wield the weapons yourself. When people use your weapons to kill living creatures, you will get EXP depending on the levels of the creatures killed by your weapons.]

"Oh! So if I sell a lot of weapons, I can get a lot of EXP."

[It is possible. But remember! The EXP you gained still depended on the level differences between you and the ones killed by your weapons. So if the ones killed are too weak, like cockroaches, then you won't get EXP because they have too little energy for you.]

"Not the difference with the weapon wielders, but mine?"

[Yes. It will be unfair if when you become a powerful Immortal, you can still gain a lot of EXP when your weapons are used by a normal person killing a normal beast. It is to encourage you to keep making higher quality weapons to be used by even more powerful people.]

"W-well, makes sense. That means if I can make really high quality weapons and they are used to kill creatures much stronger than me, I will get a ton of EXP, right?"

[Correct. Higher quality weapons will be sought off by stronger people. So you have to keep improving your Blacksmithing skills.]

"I assume you will teach me Blacksmithing Skills, right?"

[How else?]

Jamie never learned how to craft weapons himself. He only liked to watch those shows and read the stories about them. Watching wasn't the same as doing, so he didn't have any experience, and the system would help him with that.

A gift icon appeared on the system screen. It's the Beginner Pack given to him to start this 2nd life. Without hesitation, he opened the pack and the contents were revealed.

"A Novice Blacksmith Skill Book and a Pocket Dimension Workshop? I can more or less guess about the Skill Book, but what about the Pocket Dimension Workshop?"

Suddenly, Jamie moved into a new place. There was a building there, filled with blacksmithing tools. There was also a small hut with a bed for him to sleep.

This was a space in another dimension. It was small, just the size of 2 tennis courts including the yard. Everything beyond was covered with fog and Jamie couldn't enter it, like there was an invisible wall blocking him.

[As you level up, this space will get wider. You can upgrade the buildings and tools here using points.]

"Points?"

[The money you get from selling your weapons will be converted into points. You won't lose your real money, so you don't need to worry. Points can also be used to buy items from the system's shop. The conversion is 100 Wen or Copper Coins for 1 Point. 1000 Wen is 1 Silver Tael, so for 1 Silver Tael, you get 10 Points. For reference, 1 Gold Tael is 16 Silver Taels. There will be other currencies for when you start entering the world of Cultivators, but for now, you just need to know this. Only money that belongs completely to you is converted into points. So you won't get points from the money you borrow or simply just hold.]

Jamie nodded in understanding. He still needed to learn the basic knowledge of this world. If he was a pure chinese living in China who knew history, then he would know these things, but he wasn't, so he had to learn from the basics now.

[Items originated from the System can only be used inside this Pocket Dimension. So you can't take any of these items outside. It also applies to the future items you will purchase from the System Shop. That's why the system doesn't provide materials, only tools to help you.]

"So I have to get my materials outside and forge them here. What about living creatures? Can I bring pets or other people here?"

[Yes, only those who receive your permission, and you can expel them anytime with just a thought.]

"Hoh, so I can keep a pet later to accompany me here, good."

[You should think of getting a wife so you won't stay single even in your 2nd life.]

"Shut it!"

This system really knew how to irritate Jamie.
