Chapter 2 - Chapter 1 A Different Elder Brother

Chapter 1 A Different Elder Brother

The first thing James had learned about being reborn was that reality did not care about dramatic timing.

There had been no thunder when his soul slipped into the small, frail body of Orpal Verhen. No golden light, No heavenly choir, Just a fever, confusion, and a pounding headache that had lasted nearly a full day before his mind finally stabilized. That had been months ago.

Now, as six-year-old Orpal Verhen opened his eyes to the soft gray light of dawn, the world felt… normal. Too normal.

He lay still for a few seconds, staring at the wooden ceiling above his bed, listening to the quiet breathing of the household. The Verhen home was modest or borderline poor, but warm in a way modern apartments rarely were. The faint smell of smoke and dried herbs lingered in the air.

James no, Orpal exhaled slowly.

"I'm still here," he muttered under his breath.

This was not a dream, not even a temporary hallucination.

He had truly transmigrated into the world of Supreme Magus.

And today… today was an important day.

Because yesterday, Lith Verhen had been born.

The future monster or the future powerhouse. According to the relationship you have with him. But Lith is now his little brother.

Morning Routine, Orpal pushed himself upright, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. His small body still wasn't something he was fully used to, even after months. Everything felt lighter, weaker, and frustratingly limited. But also… full of potential.

A faint blue panel flickered into existence in front of him.

[Daily Tasks Generated]

Sweep the house (0/1)

Fetch water from the well (0/2 buckets)

Assist with morning chores (0/1)

Rewards: Minor EXP + Random Stat Fragment

Orpal's lips curved slightly.

"No penalties if I fail… but no rewards either," he whispered.

It was a balanced, Fair and an Annoyingly motivating system.

He slipped quietly out of bed, careful not to wake anyone. Elina, his current 'mother' had gone through enough stress with the birth. The last thing she needed was noisy children running around.

The wooden floor creaked faintly under his feet as he grabbed the broom from the corner.

House Before Sunrise, The Verhen house was small, but not cramped. Years of careful maintenance by Elina and his father Raaz had kept it neat despite their limited means.

Orpal started sweeping.

Slowly and Methodically. It was not because the task was difficult—but because of the system.

Over the past few months, he had learned something important:

The system rewarded effort and quality.

If he rushed through chores carelessly, the rewards would drop.

If he did them properly…then the rewards would improved.

So he worked carefully, pushing dust into neat piles, reaching corners most children would ignore. His small arms grew slightly sore halfway through, but he didn't stop.

Six-year-old body or not, discipline was discipline.

A soft chime rang in his mind.

[Task Completed: Sweep the house]

Reward Granted: Minor EXP + Vitality Fragment (Small)

A faint warmth spread through his body.

Orpal's eyes sharpened.

'There it is.' He said in his mind.

The increase was tiny, barely noticeable to anyone else—but after months of accumulation, he could feel the difference. His stamina had improved. His recovery was faster.

It was not broken or overpowered. But it was steady and Reliable. Exactly what he needed.

The Well. The morning air outside was crisp and cool. Dew clung to the grass, and the sky was just beginning to brighten with the promise of sunrise.

Orpal grabbed the wooden buckets and headed toward the well.

Each step was deliberate and Measured.

He had learned early that this world was not kind to the weak. Even though he only remembered the early arcs of Supreme Magus, one thing had been very clear:

Strength decided survival.

Not talent ,Not kindness. Only Strength.

The bucket dipped into the well with a soft splash. Orpal braced his feet and pulled.

His small arms strained. His muscles trembled. But the bucket came up.

Slowly and Steadily.

By the time he finished the second bucket, a thin sheen of sweat covered his forehead.

[Daily Tasks Completed]

Rewards Distributed

Another faint wave of warmth passed through him.

Orpal allowed himself a small, satisfied nod.

'Good stuff.' He said in his mind.

Inside the House, Lith spent his first day quietly in Elina's care.

Orpal had only seen the baby briefly the previous night—small, red-faced, and… surprisingly quiet.

'Future menace,' Orpal thought with a small smile.

If someone told his past self that the tiny newborn in that crib would one day become one of the most dangerous beings in the story, he would have laughed. But he knew better.

Even if his knowledge only went as far as Lith becoming a Ranger and some other spoiler that he read in wiki page.

Still… knowing the future and living in it were very different experiences.

Orpal shook the thoughts away.

There's no need to overthinking and no interference unless necessary. That was his current policy.

The Next Morning

The following day unfolded quietly.

Elina woke early, as always, ready to tackle the mountain of chores that came with running a poor household with multiple children and a newborn.

Except… When she stepped into the main room, she froze.

The floor was already clean. Water buckets filled. Firewood stacked neatly.

Elina blinked. "…Orpal" Her voice carried a mixture of proud and happiness. But Orpal wasn't there.

Training Grounds (Behind the House). A short distance from the house, near the edge of the field, a small six-year-old boy was doing very serious… very careful… exercises.

Orpal moved slowly through a basic routine.

Light stretche, Short-distance joggin and Bodyweight squats (in low counts)

Breathing control, Nothing excessive or Nothing dangerous.

He knew better than to overtrain a child's body.

Consistency over intensity, he reminded himself in his mind.

Sweat trickled down his temple as he finished the final set. His breathing was slightly heavy, and controlled.

A soft notification appeared.

[Daily Training Quest Progress: 100%]

Reward: Strength Fragment (Small)

Orpal smiled faintly.

"Worth it." he said to himself.

Afternoon Return

By the time Orpal returned home, the sun was high and warm.

The familiar smell of cooking drifted through the air.

Elina had prepared lunch. Inside, the atmosphere was peaceful, almost usually so. His father was eating quietly, and Rena was seated nearby.

Good, Orpal thought.

Months of careful behavior adjustments were paying off.

Lunch passed simply. After eating, his father headed out to the fields as usual, boots heavy against the floor.

Orpal remained behind. Because there was something he wanted to confirm.

The crib had been placed in the kitchen so Elina could easily keep an eye on the newborn while working.

It was smart and efficient.Very Elina like.

Orpal approached quietly.

And there he was. Little Lith Verhen. Small,Quiet and Wide awake.

The baby's bright eyes were fixed on Elina, who was currently using a small spell to ignite the fireplace.

A tiny spark of mana, A controlled ignition. A simple magic.

But Lith's gaze was locked onto it with intense focus.

Orpal wasn't surprised.

He had read enough of Supreme Magus to remember this clearly. Lith had always been fascinated by magic. Even from the beginning.

Orpal leaned lightly against the wall, watching.

"…Already observing, huh?" A faint smile tugged at his lips. Honestly… he was fascinated about the magic too.

Magic in this world wasn't flashy nonsense. It was structured. Almost scientific in its own way.

If he had been born with Lith's absurd talent…

'Well. No point thinking about that.' He thought to himself.

Footsteps approached from behind. Orpal turned and saw Rena Verhen—his twin sister.

In the original story, Orpal and Rena's relationship had been strained.

Cold and Distant. But that had been the old Orpal, Not him.

Without a word, Orpal held out the fish he had caught earlier.

Rena blinked in surprise. "Is it for me?" she asked.

"Mm." with a simple answer he replied.

Her expression softened almost immediately. "…Thanks." she said.

Their relationship had improved steadily over the past few months. Not overly sweet. Not suspiciously perfect. Just… normal siblings. Exactly what Orpal was aiming for.

Beside the Crib, After handing over the fish, Orpal stepped closer to the crib and quietly sat down beside it.

Lith's eyes shifted. His eyes locked onto him.

Sharp,Too sharp for a newborn.

Orpal raised an eyebrow slightly. 'Yeah… definitely the protagonist.' He said in his mind.

For a long moment, neither brother moved.

One observing and One quietly assessing.

Then Orpal leaned back slightly, resting his arms on his knees and sat there.

The kitchen remained warm. The fire crackled gently. And somewhere deep inside his mind…

The system remained silent.

The story of a rewritten elder brother had officially begun... Today.

Hope You Guys Like This Story. Also its going to be a slow novel too.
