(Greek Mythology) The Abyss
Chapter Sixty-Four
"I'll cleave Mount Olympus in two!!" Having heard the rumors and witnessed the group of gods bringing Typhon to the abyss, Amyra completely lost her temper, brandishing the Sword of Norclice and ready to slaughter Zeus and his entourage.
"Nikola, calm down, don't be impulsive." Erebus tried to stop his younger sister from killing the king of the gods, forcibly pulling Amyra down to sit, and slipping a few gems into her hand to calm her down.
"Calm down? Thanatos, go and throw those gods who dared to bring Typhon to the abyss out! Nicola, don't listen to Erebus, your second sister supports you!" Nicholas slammed his fan on his husband's head and gave the order to his son, who was cosplaying in the background.
Rumors were one thing before, since they weren't intentional. But now they dared to make their elder brother and Gaia take the blame! So what if Typhon carries the laws of the abyss and the earth? It was Hera's idea; their elder brother and Gaia merely agreed.
Today was even more outrageous. After spreading such rumors, they dared to imprison Typhon in the abyss. This was practically a provocation against all the first gods and the entire underworld. Nyx was furious.
After being slapped by Nyx's fan, Erebus silently retreated to the side. Well, actually, he also disapproved of the actions of those gods in the divine realm.
It's definitely not because of his henpecked husband or anything like that. —by the stubbornly denying Erebus
"Thanatos, come back." Tartarus called out to the god of death who was walking out of the temple.
"Brother, you know what they said. Why don't you just throw those gods out?" Ai Miye disagreed with Tartarus's decision to stop Thanatos.
"Yes, how could Typhon be my brother's child?" Nyx frowned, his face full of disgust.
Gods value appearance, but even the plain-looking Hephaestus was abandoned by Hera, and even after gaining recognition for his forging skills, he was still ridiculed.
Typhon was more than just ugly; describing him as grotesque was an understatement.
"My brother isn't even married yet, where would he get a child? Do they think everyone is as shameless as them?"
Aimiye expressionlessly crushed the gem Erebus had just given her, shards and powder scattering all over the ground. She wasn't that gluttonous Hemera.
She absolutely had to kill those bastards who spread rumors!!!
"I don't care what you care about." Tartarus, caught in the crossfire, remained as indifferent as ever, showing no sign of anger.
"It's precisely because you don't mind that we mind even more," Ai Miye and Nix said helplessly at Tartarus's indifference.
"Brother..." Ai Miye said, discontented.
"Big brother..." Nix grumbled.
"Your Majesty..." Eris, who had been silent until now, joined in.
"I just think it's beneath me to argue with gods like them," Tartarus explained calmly.
"What's that saying again? Don't argue with fools, because you can only defeat them in a way they can understand by lowering your intelligence to their level."
"Okay, it is indeed beneath me," Ai Miye admitted after a moment's thought.
"So instead of wasting your time arguing with them, you should do something else," Tartarus said, indicating that he had no interest in those gods whose intelligence was always offline.
" "But we really shouldn't let them use the Abyss as a prison anymore." A rare hint of disgust flickered in Hades' usually calm, emerald eyes. "If this continues…"
"Yes, brother, you can't ignore them anymore, or they'll never know what restraint is." Ai Miya glanced at Hades and interrupted, successfully stopping him from saying anything more.
It's fine if we don't wipe out those Olympian gods; they can't cause any real trouble anyway. But we absolutely must win back my brother's attention. That's the key. We can't give that scheming Hades a chance to show his face.
Yes, Ai Miya, with her extremely keen sensitivity to emotions, had already discovered that Hades liked Tartarus, before Hades himself even realized it.
Although Ai Miya had observed and confirmed that while her brother had a good impression of Hades, he only considered him a friend and had no other intentions, she was still prepared for the worst. Ai Miya decided to strike first, separating the two gods before Hades knew she liked her brother.
However, this separation required a specific method. She knew her brother well; while Tartarus might not have high emotional intelligence and wouldn't think in that direction, his superior intellect could compensate for most of his shortcomings. If she wasn't discreet enough, her brother would definitely find out.
Therefore, the best method she could use was to steal her brother's attention.
As a sister who was obsessed with her brother, stealing his attention was perfectly normal, wasn't it? It would be abnormal not to do so; it was completely in line with her character.
"That's right, the Abyss was only designated as a prison because Gaia wanted to imprison Uranus back then, not actually used to imprison the defeated," Nix added.
There were some things Nyx didn't say. If Tartarus hadn't ignored the Cyclopes and Hecatoncheires when Cnoros imprisoned them, just as he had this time, the Abyss wouldn't be remembered by the Outer Gods as merely a prison.
The Abyss, which, along with several other realms, formed the foundation of the world, was only used as a prison? Wasn't that utterly ridiculous?
"Then throw them out," Tartarus said. He didn't care how the gods were treated, but since the gods around him had said so, he might as well throw them out.
Leaving aside the reactions of Zeus and the other gods upon hearing this news, let's look at another god involved.
The Sea Realm
When Gaia heard the rumor, she was sitting face-to-face chatting with her new lover, Poseidon, the Sea God, and then nearly choked on her own shock.
Poseidon raised an eyebrow, looking at Gaia with surprise. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing," Gaia shook her head. "My brother and I have only met once since the time of Uranus, once before, because of the matter of Amyr. Where would a child come from?"
Gaia didn't really mind if Typhon was instigated by her, but to say that Typhon was her and Tartarus's child… thinking of her brother's face, Gaia felt utterly disgusted.
It seems Gaia's relationship with the God of the Abyss is rather ordinary. Poseidon secretly noted this information, but outwardly remained expressionless. His deep blue eyes gleamed, and he teased, "Not now, but you can have later."
Gaia's womanizing ways were well-known; she had countless lovers and numerous children. If she and Tartarus became lovers in the future, Poseidon wouldn't be surprised at all.
"Impossible," Gaia denied without hesitation.
"What, is the God of the Abyss really that ugly?" Poseidon thought of the rumors, both true and false, he had heard before.
"No, my brother is very handsome." Meeting Poseidon's questioning gaze, Gaia added, "He's just too handsome, that's why it's impossible."
No goddess would want a god more handsome than herself as a lover, not even Gaia, who was always confident in her appearance and certainly had the right to be. Over the years, she had long since given up on the suicidal act of comparing her looks with her brother.
Therefore, Gaia felt she had every reason to believe that one of the reasons Tartarus hadn't married was that no goddess had the courage to stand beside him.
