Chapter 1 - Chatpter 1

(Greek Mythology) The Abyss

Chapter One

Sitting on his high throne, chin resting on his hand, he began, for the umpteenth time, to ponder how he had transmigrated. It wasn't that he missed his original world, or possessed any particular curiosity or inquisitiveness; he was simply…bored.

Don't ask him why he was bored. If you'd been stuck in the same place for tens of thousands of years with nothing to do, you'd probably feel the same way. Of course, he wasn't trapped in one place for some reason. And let me forget to mention, this hellish place he'd been in for tens of thousands of years was his own temple, and his current identity was Tartarus, the creator of Hell in Greek mythology—the god of the abyss.

Actually, being Tartarus was great. The strongest being in Greek mythology, perfect in every way except for strength, he was quite satisfied. Plus, with his past experiences providing a stark contrast, he was even more pleased with this identity.

Out of boredom, he began to recall how he had transmigrated in the first place.

...In his memories...

Consciousness gradually returned, accompanied by indescribable, excruciating pain, as if his soul were being torn apart. His body was bound by a force, unable to move. He wanted to open his eyes but couldn't, and could only fall into a deep sleep once more.

The long passage of time drove him to the brink of madness with loneliness, almost causing him to lose himself, but he persevered. Countless awakenings and countless slumbers brought about a transformation of his soul.

During this time, a black, rhomboid divine spark was conceived in the chaos—the Abyss Divine Spark. When this transformation of the soul reached a certain limit, the Abyss Divine Spark entered his soul. The laws generated an invisible fluctuation, as if recording something, and a figure gradually solidified in the darkness.

Somewhat dazed, he opened his eyes. Before him was a scene of chaos before the birth of the world, and a person, or rather a god, the creator god of Greek mythology—Chaos.

"You're awake." Chaos had been waiting for his awakening for a long time, a considerable amount of time even for a god.

A lingering sense of absurdity, as if from another world, remained. He didn't answer, only looking at Chaos with an expressionless face.

Chaos didn't mind, cutting to the chase: "You are now Tartarus, the god of the abyss. Thank me; after your soul was tempered in chaos, your strength has increased considerably."

If he couldn't hold on, he would die, without even a chance to reincarnate. He was truly...deeply grateful.

However, "If I remember correctly, Gaia should have been born first." So why was there only him and Chaos as gods now? (Hey! Isn't your focus a bit off?)

"Because of your special circumstances, you were born first. Isn't that good?"

"No, it's very good." It really was good. His past experiences had left him with no goodwill towards sisters, and naturally, he didn't want to suddenly have an older sister to annoy him after transmigrating. "So, I'm good to you, aren't I? Look, you were the first god born besides me. Compared to Gaia, who is a goddess, your status as a male god is far more noble, second only to me in the entire Greek pantheon." Chaos genuinely felt that no one was better than him as a father god. (-_-||| Gaia also had three other children of yours, have you forgotten them?)

"Oh." He gave a perfunctory reply, indicating he understood. He was indifferent by nature, unconcerned about many things, indifferent to loss or gain. He didn't care at all about the noble status Chaos spoke of.

This reaction was too bland. Chaos was somewhat annoyed, but he continued, "You've just been born and don't understand this world yet. Go and integrate your inherited memories first."

Tartarus didn't move. He didn't understand. "Why me?" There are so many people in the world, why was he the one who transmigrated? The difference between gods and humans is like an insurmountable chasm, why could he become Tartarus? This is something that cannot be achieved simply by tempering the soul in chaos.

"There's no such thing as 'why' in this world. Whatever the reason, you are already Tartarus. What difference would knowing make?" Chaos casually toyed with his long golden hair, answering indifferently, his tone tinged with coldness. No matter how gentle he may appear, a creator god is still a creator god.

Unable to get any answers, Tartarus said no more, his mind sinking into the inherited memories, and chaos returned to silence.

Time flowed by like water. Chaos taught Tartarus a great deal, but also made Tartarus deeply aware of how wicked his own character was. Chaos was always relentlessly trying to change Tartarus's attitude and constantly pushing his limits.

"You are a creator god." So, can't you show some of the composure of a creator god? Don't be so unreliable. He had initially held some respect for this creator god, but now, respect? ...Heh...

"Little Tar, you should smile more. Don't always have that long face. Come on, smile." What a waste of such a beautiful face, not even a single expression.

"Chaos!" The temperature around Tartarus plummeted. What on earth was this little Tar? Okay, calm down. After all, he was his father god in this life. Calling him by a nickname was fine, even if it was a bit ridiculous. He'd just pretend he didn't hear the last sentence, upholding the traditional virtue of respecting elders.

Tartarus felt that his temper had improved so much since transmigrating, and his patience had also greatly increased. Of course, all of this was thanks to Chaos's unreliability.

He sighed with considerable regret. Tar was becoming less and less fun. At first, he had some expression, but now, the moment he tried to tease him, he became even more like an iceberg. Absolutely no fun.

Watching Tartarus sink back into his meditative state, Chaos felt melancholy. Before, he was the only living being in the entire world, and now Tartarus was ignoring him. He was truly bored. (If you keep tormenting your son like this, he'll never listen to you.)
