Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Mother’s Test

The silence in the primordial clearing was deafening. The massive avatar of Gaea, woven from glowing vines, hyper-dense prehistoric soil, and pure emerald magic, stared down at the pale, crimson-eyed man who had just declared himself King of her world.

To Gaea, the Earth was an extension of her own body. She could feel the heartbeat of every corrupted Devonian reptile, the slow blooming of the giant ferns, and the deep, molten churning of the mantle. Everything belonged to the cycle of life seeded by the Demiurge.

Everything except him.

Looking at Orion through her magical senses, Gaea didn't see a living creature. She saw a conceptual void. He had no soul-signature matching the Earth's biosphere. He was a walking singularity of eternal stasis, absolute dominion, and blood.

The towering avatar leaned forward, her eyes pooling with ancient, weary gold light. When she spoke, her voice was the grinding of tectonic plates and the rustling of a billion leaves.

"You possess the arrogance of my brothers, anomaly," Gaea's voice echoed, vibrating through Orion's bones. "Chthon and Set believed they were kings, too, before my son tore them from this realm. But you... you do not reek of their dark magic. You are something else entirely. A parasite that drinks their remnants."

Orion didn't flinch. The sheer divine pressure radiating from the Elder Goddess would have instantly pulverized a modern human into atomic dust, but his Absolute Immortality Ω rendered the crushing gravity entirely moot.

'Fuck man, she's got a temper,' Orion thought, an amused smirk playing on his lips. 'Comparing me to those degenerate squid-faced demons? Insulting.'

He stepped closer to the towering construct of nature, tilting his head back to meet her glowing golden eyes.

"I am no parasite, Goddess" !!!!!! Orion declared loudly, his voice slicing through the heavy, magical atmosphere like a physical blade. "I am the absolute end of the food chain. I am the True Progenitor. And unlike your corrupted brothers, I don't want to rot this world into a demonic cesspool. I want to own it. I want to perfect it" !!!!!!

Gaea's avatar narrowed her eyes. The surrounding jungle reacted to her rising ire. The massive, skyscraper-sized mushrooms began to secrete toxic, flesh-melting spores, and the razor-ferns curled inward, turning the entire clearing into a hostile, bladed arena.

"The Earth needs no King," Gaea rumbled, the ground beneath Orion's boots beginning to superheat. "I am the Mother. I nurture the life that remains. I will not surrender my cradle to an undead anomaly who speaks of perfection while reeking of slaughter. Begone from my surface, void-walker, or I will bury you in the mantle."

Orion let out a dry, barking laugh. He crossed his arms over his blood-woven coat.

"Well, at last, a Goddess with some actual spine" !!!!!! Orion shouted, his crimson eyes flaring with sheer predatory challenge. "But let's get one thing straight, Gaea. You can't kill me. You can't bury me. You can't even scratch me. So why don't you go ahead and try your worst, just to get it out of your system?" !!!!!!

The challenge was met with instantaneous, localized annihilation.

Gaea didn't hold back. With a surge of planetary willpower, the gravity in the clearing multiplied by ten thousand. The air itself crystallized into hyper-dense emerald spears. Before Orion could even uncross his arms, the avatar slammed two massive fists made of bedrock and divine magic directly down onto his head.

The impact was cataclysmic. A localized earthquake shattered the Devonian jungle for ten miles in every direction. The ground liquefied under the kinetic force, driving Orion thousands of feet deep into the crust, perfectly sandwiching him beneath millions of tons of super-compressed, magically reinforced stone.

Deep beneath the surface, completely flattened into a paste of pale skin and crimson energy, Orion didn't panic. He just waited.

[Absolute Immortality Ω Triggered.]

In less than a microsecond, the conceptual law of his existence overrode the physical laws of the planet. The pulverized paste of his body instantly vaporized into a brilliant red mist, violently expanding outward. The mist bypassed the physical density of the bedrock, shooting straight up through the miles of compressed earth like a geyser of blood.

The mist coalesced directly in front of Gaea's avatar, solidifying back into Orion's flawless form in the blink of an eye. His midnight-black uniform reformed instantly. He wasn't even breathing hard.

'Fuck, that actually felt like getting hit by a meteor,' Orion thought, rolling his shoulders. 'Good thing pain is just a passing suggestion now.'

Deep within his soul, the engine hummed.

[Limit Breaker Ω Triggered.]

[Assimilating kinetic force and divine planetary pressure.]

[Physical Durability increased by 18%.]

[Evolution Progress: Stage 1 — Progenitor Origin (Progress: 0.25%).]

Orion looked up at the avatar, which had physically recoiled in shock. He extended his right hand, his fangs bared in a terrifying, triumphant grin.

"My turn" !!!!!!

He engaged his Crimson Dominion, but he didn't aim it at the avatar. He aimed it at the very earth Gaea had used to crush him. He seized the residual sap, the moisture in the soil, and the blood of the millions of microscopic organisms within the dirt, weaponizing it all at once.

A massive, conceptual dome of crimson energy erupted around the clearing, violently severing the avatar's connection to the surrounding leylines. The glowing green vines making up the goddess's form instantly withered as Orion drained the ambient life-force of the immediate area, absorbing it directly into his ever-expanding reserves.

He didn't attack her core; he simply demonstrated that he could cut off her power with a mere thought. He was the master of blood, and everything on this planet had a pulse.

The avatar slumped, its glowing golden eyes dimming as the emerald magic was suppressed by Orion's suffocating crimson aura.

"You are the Mother, Gaea" !!!!!! Orion boomed, his voice carrying the absolute weight of his Progenitor Authority, forcing the remaining primordial beasts hiding miles away to cower in the mud. "You nurture. You create. But you cannot fight the cosmos forever. You felt it during the Godwar. You are exhausted. The Celestials will come. The cosmic abstracts will look down on this rock. You cannot protect your cradle from the universe with vines and dirt" !!!!!!

He stepped closer, the crimson dome around them pulsing like a massive, beating heart.

"You need a King... You need a sword that will never break, an Emperor who will stand between your children and the void" !!!!!! Orion declared violently, staring directly into the avatar's golden eyes. "I will cleanse the remnants of your brothers. I will build an empire that the stars will fear. But I am not doing it alone. I am claiming this world, Gaea, and I am claiming you" !!!!!!

The avatar of the Elder Goddess remained silent for a long, heavy moment. The hostility in the air slowly began to dissipate. The sheer absolute certainty of his existence—his impossible immortality, his unyielding dominance—was something she had never encountered in her billions of years of existence.

He was a predator, yes. But he was a perfect one. He didn't want to consume the Earth to destroy it; he wanted to consume its enemies to conquer the universe.

The glowing vines of the avatar slowly began to unravel, turning to harmless ash that drifted away in the heavy prehistoric wind. The immense divine pressure receded, leaving only the calm, melodic hum of ancient magic.

As the avatar vanished, the ground in the center of the clearing began to split apart, not violently, but smoothly. The earth folded back, revealing a massive, spiraling subterranean staircase carved from glowing, emerald crystal. The staircase descended endlessly into the darkness, leading directly toward the planet's core.

A soft, ancient voice echoed directly into Orion's mind, no longer booming with the rage of the planet, but carrying the quiet, maternal weight of the Goddess herself.

"You are an arrogant, impossible anomaly, Orion Sanguis. But perhaps... an anomaly is what my world requires. Descend into the Cradle of Life. Let me look upon the True Progenitor with my own eyes."

Orion's terrifying aura vanished, replaced by a smooth, confident smirk. He dismissed the Crimson Dominion, letting the bloody dome shatter into harmless red mist that rained down on the Devonian soil.

'Well, at last, an invitation into the Goddess's bedroom,' Orion thought, adjusting the high collar of his blood-woven coat. He cracked his knuckles, feeling the newly acquired durability settling into his bones.

Without a moment of hesitation, the Immortal One stepped up to the glowing crystalline staircase and began his descent into the depths of the Earth, ready to forge an eternal empire from the very heart of the world.
