Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: Sovereign of Annihilation

 Ahhhhh!

The pain continued. The ball of energy has finally forced its way through Mike's skull. The blue strands also forced themselves into Mike's nerves. Moving in tandem with them as if they were always there.

The painful process ended soon. Mike appeared as though he was at death's door. His eyes sunken. Lips dry and skin pale. His breathing was so slow, barely noticeable.

Tears were streaming down Nannia's face. She couldn't bear to see him suffer this much. Her hands cusping his as if trying to monitor his heart beats through his veins.

Badumb Badumb

Mike's heart started to beat violently. His chest looked like it was about to bust open. The touch of his skin was warm like summer's evening. His once argonising screams have stopped. And his skin started to look more healthy.

"Put him down"

Satan Commanded.

Without thinking, Nannia took him from the wheelchair and placed him down. His once deformed body started to straighten out. The bent back, crooked legs and any hidden ailments were being healed.

Nannia was visibly shocked and elated by the change, God literally knows how many times she prayed for him to be healed. The sleepless nights of worry.

Thinking his life will forever be shacked to the wheelchair and the world of darkness or no sound. She felt suffocated whenever she tried to imagine herself in his situation. A life without colour and sound.

Traces of light started to glow throughout his body. Starting from underneath his feet, tracing slowly to his brain.

Ignia Connection Successful

Satan's Contract has been established

Mike opened his eyes to see a mysterious glowing text before his eyes.

"What is that"

Mike asked, pointing at the screen. Nannia looked at where he was pointing, and she couldn't see what he was pointing at. From the looks of it, nobody in the room could see the mysterious text that appeared before his eyes.

Worry flooded her face, she thought whatever that just sunk into him had made him start to see illusions. She didn't know how right she was but not in the way she thought.

"That would be something to help you navigate your growth journey, only you can see it as it is attached itself to your soul. It's called Ignia"

Satan went and helped him on his feet.

"This System is part of your contract, along the way the contract will reveal all the things you need to do. I saw this design in a certain world once, it was fascinating, they call them quests. That screen also comes from there. They play things they call games and throughout these games, the screen tells them what to do to gain strength. Amazing right... Right!"

Seeing how enthusiastic Satan was with his little project, Mike could only agree with him.

"Of course like any good contract, The System will penalize you if you try to go against it or fail to meet the expected demands. But hey, doný worry if you do good in your assigned work, you shall gain a reward."

As he was listening, Mike finally understood why he could not see any writing on the page before.

"Sabastian, Take him to his room, I need a moment with his Mother here"

Mike still needed to get used to his new legs, so his walking was a bit awkward. Every step was mechanical.

Soon the pair were out of the room.

The devilish eyes trained on the helpless woman, naive on the ways of the world and has the mindset of devout believer even when she was shown behind the curtains of lies.

"Do you fear me?"

Alone with him, and with no Mike around to worry about. Of course she was scared.

"Why do you fear me"

Unable to open her mouth.

"Why should you fear me"

The questions started to confuse her.

"I understand you think I am the embodiment of evil, Bad luck in physical form. And a walking bag of disease. I don't want to lie, That hurts me a little"

"Can you feel hurt though?"

For the first time, Nannia asked a question.

"Well yes, Time may go on, but emotions are what anchor us to moments in time, and I have lived long, experienced much, and felt the most"

Walking to the seats placed conveniently on the side, he gestures for her to come sit with him.

"Why do you think the world has been taught to fear me? To fear death, and to seek one sided view of the world?"

"I don't know, Maybe because there can only be good in the world. Humans naturally gravitate towards good"

The devil placed his hands on his chin.

"Gravitate towards good huh? I beg the differ, Humans gravitate towards the loudest noise. Gods just so happen to be the loudest"

She thought of what she just said, then looked back at him.

"So what are you trying to say? The world should be in pain and suffering, Children should be met with death from young while the strong take advantage of the weak?"

Hahaha, Satan laughed his belly out.

"There you go with that indoctrinated talk. The world was meant to be balanced out, everything gained through sheer effort and pain. Every struggle was meant to leave a lasting impression upon your souls for growth. But look at the world now, the real evil lives with you all but you are blind to see"

Looking at the ceiling as if to remember something.

"I was made to progress the world, Distruction is needed for there to be renewal, without pain all lesson would be meaningless. But my existence is now seen as taboo, the mere mention of my name sends shivers down any human's spine"

He then turned his head back to Nannia.

"But it is good this way, Mike will need such a platform to grow"

"Are you trying to say Mike needs to bring pain to the innocent, To harm those who are just trying to li..."

Pam!

Satan hit his hand on the armrest, quickly sturdling Nannia on her seat.

"Survival isn't living, A purposeless existence leaves one's soul hollow, How do you think all those so called demon are made"

Nannia's eye almost popped off their socket when she heard that.

"You mean to say..."

"Yes, what your Gods call demons and Devils are just husks off past human souls driven by base compulsions"

Inhaling, his face turned serious.

"You call it evil, I call it balance, the reason I need you here is because I understand your connection with Mike, He needs you, and having an anchor in his life will stabilise him enough to not be taken over by the seed"

"What seed"

"You don't need to know about it now. Drop the Nun uniform, from now on you shall only be known as Nannia who just happens to be Mike's Mother"

Listening to him, Nannia felt a warm motherly love in her heart. It was as if she was looking for someone to confirm that she was Mike's Mother.

"So what will happen to Mike now, He can't be stuck here for the rest of his life right.

Satan stood up, walked over to the table and took some documents.

"Well, he will be going to the Academy of course, He still has much to learn, and what the best place to teach the basics if not a school"

Surprised by what she heard.

"There's a school in Hell?"

"Underworld... It's not hell it's the underworld, this is the world where human had to go to understa...hhhh"

The devil was so frustrated by the need to repeat himself.

"Look, the place human souls are sent now is the Purgatory. The realm after the Underworld. Few humans make it here. It's only the children of the mythical beings or Beats that you can see on this plane of existence."

Nannia can see just how much she had frustrated Satan, She put on a Sorry face.

Knock! Knock!

"Sir, Young Master Mike has arrived at his chambers..."

Before he could continue.

"Take her too"

"..."

Nannia didn't even say goodbye, fear she might annoy him more.

"You should be free, Now your heart should dictate what you put you mind to"

Satan sent her off with those few words.

Gatcha!

The door closed behind them. Living Satan alone.

"Please forgive Master, He has a lot on his plate"

"I can tell, Tell me, if he being himself or"

Nannia didn't want to say the quiet part out loud.

"He is quite himself, Imagine going to sleep with a happy family only to wake up to find the whole family painting you as the worst person to ever live"

Listening to sabastian, Nannia started to feel sorry for Satan, she even felt disgusted with herself when she kept looking at him like a monster.

Seeing how Nannia's face looked, Sabastian just flashed an unnoticed smile.
