Chapter 187 - Chapter 187: Obito Takes Action

Just then, Nagato and Konan suddenly noticed the sky darkening again. Sensing something bad, they looked up and saw an even larger water sphere than before completely obscuring their field of view, leaving only a vast expanse of blue.

"Damn it, too late."

Since he had just used Shinra Tensei and the cooldown hadn't reset yet, Nagato—who proclaimed himself a god—truly had no good countermeasure for the moment. At this point, he could only go all out.

Glancing at Konan beside him, Nagato made up his mind. He prepared to summon the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path to block it. Doing so would undoubtedly consume a massive amount of his chakra, worsening his already frail body, but he had no other choice.

If he didn't, they would both die.

.....

"Boom!"

Watching the water sphere smash straight down without any resistance, kicking up massive waves upon hitting the ground, Furina—who had been observing from the side—narrowed her eyes slightly.

This seemed a bit too easy. No matter what, Nagato shouldn't be dealt with so simply. After all, he hadn't even used the Demonic Statue of the Outer Path or Chibaku Tensei yet.

"I knew it. So you're here too."

Suddenly sensing something unusual, Furina turned her head toward one direction. Not far from her, space distorted, and then three figures emerged from it one after another.

Nagato, Konan, and Obito.

After seeing Obito appear, Furina understood why there had been no resistance the second time. It turned out this guy had been hiding nearby all along. When it came to survival alone, Kamui was undeniably unmatched.

"Konan, you're not suited to deal with her. Leave her to the two of us."

"Hmph, I never thought there'd be a day I'd fight side by side with you, Nagato. Though I did warn you long ago that she's hard to handle."

Facing Nagato's concern, Konan had no intention of insisting on staying. After the previous battle, she knew her presence wouldn't make much difference in what came next. It was better to leave quickly and avoid distracting him further.

With that in mind, Konan first gave Obito a deep look—as if confirming whether he could truly be trusted—then turned to Nagato. Seeing the certainty in his eyes, she said nothing more, nodded, and flapped her wings to fly away.

"To have both of you teaming up against me—I'm truly flattered."

Ignoring Konan's departure, Furina focused all her attention on Nagato and Obito opposite her. Her words weren't entirely teasing; part of her genuinely felt that way.

One was the publicly known leader of the Akatsuki, the other the hidden leader—and the mastermind behind starting the Ninja World War. Before this, they must have been wary of each other.

Yet now, to deal with her, these two—who would never have allied under normal circumstances—were actually standing together.

Was it Furina's ability that was so impressive, making them instantly grasp the true meaning of unity?

Still, sighing aside, facing the two who were extremely cautious and unwilling to act rashly, Furina took the initiative to attack first.

Dozens of Rasengan spears, shaped through Water Release nature transformation, arrived in front of the pair almost instantly. Facing the water spears now right before them, Obito's gaze remained calm, showing no intention of dodging.

Sure enough, the next moment, with the burst of repulsive force, the water spears all flew backward. But immediately after, Furina's figure had already appeared in front of Nagato. Taking advantage of the interval after Shinra Tensei, he was naturally her primary target.
