Chapter 3 - welcome back sheriff Grin

Mila hurried her way out of the school as soon as the bell went. She went through town searching for the sheriff's office. It was late autumn and the leaves where still falling. The crunches of leaves as she walked down the path. Until she reached the sheriff's office. She walked in and leaned against the receptionist desk. "Good afternoon do you have a case that needs to be brought up?" The receptionist said. "No my name is mila I was the sister of one of the victims of the goat killer" mila said with a stern, confident look. The receptionist looked up from her computer and said "what did you need?" "I want to work with the sheriff to find the goat killer!" Mila said loudly but not attention grabbing. "Look he is busy right now, and he doesn't need help from a high schooler like you." She said already tired and ready to clock off shift. Mila frowned and slightly turned pink. "Alteast let me talk to him!" Her voice grabbing everyone's attention. The receptionist flinches "right this way." She leaded mila through the office past other police officers.

Mila was taken to a waiting room with other people waiting to see the sheriff, it was very very quiet, all she could hear was the ticking on the clock or the occasional cough. Time moved slow as people went in and out. It felt like forever until mila finally heard her name. "Mila Wilder, you can come in now." Said sheriff Grin. Mila shot out of her seat at the speed of light, And rushed her way into the room. "So what brings you here today?" Said sheriff Grin. Mila takes a deep breath and says "so I heard there was a new victim." Sheriff Grin looks at her "Yeah a 14 year old cold case has been brought up again. shocker." "Sheriff you don't understand, I want to help you find this goat killer." Mila said in a determined voice. Sheriff Grin stared at her blankly "look I know it's been hard without your sister, but your putting yourself in danger." Mila starts getting louder "I can't stand here and do nothing while this killer who killed my own sister is out and free!" The sheriff, who has heard this God knows how many times, just sits there. "Go home mila, your mom will be worried." As he got up and lead her out the door.
