Everyone outside the tent listened to his cries, but no one went inside to tell him it was all right. Some of them believed he deserved to suffer, especially after everything he had done and the people who had lost their lives because of his decisions. They had followed him for years, hoping he would eventually lead them to victory, but they had paid a heavy price for that loyalty. They had lost too many men, and now they were left with a prince who still refused to accept that their chances of winning had disappeared.
Maxim sighed as he looked up at the sky. He had followed Adrian for hundreds of years, believing that there was still a reason to stand beside him, even when his decisions made little sense. However, after everything that had happened, he could no longer convince himself that Adrian was the right person to lead them.
He thought perhaps this was Adrian's karma: losing everyone and everything.
