Chapter 4 - Don’t resent me if I kill your dad

Dorathy

It was the same man I had a one night stand with, I wanted to say something, but the doctor's sudden action caught me off guard.

"Mr. Ev....it's nice to have you here," the doctor said with a polite bow and a sweet smile, causing me to scoff.

"Mr. Ev?" I muttered under my breath. "Who even bears such a weird name?"

I stood up and walked toward him. His face was calm yet cold, and I swallowed hard. Grabbing his tie, I yanked him closer and whispered in his ear, "What the hell are you doing here, huh?"

He didn't flinch at my words. Instead, he turned to the doctor.

"Give us some privacy," he said gently.

The doctor bowed slightly and exited the room, leaving us alone.

"I told you I never wanted to see you again. So what are you doing here?" I asked, anger boiling inside me. The very fact that he showed up made me furious. I wanted my life to be simple not more complicated than it already was.

He took my hand off his tie and adjusted it. Without saying a word, he walked past me, sat down in the chair next to where I had been sitting, and crossed his legs. His gaze met mine, and a chilling aura radiated from him one I tried my best not to surrender to.

His brown eyes scanned me from head to toe while I stood there, glaring.

"Not bad," he said finally.

I wouldn't lie his voice was magnetic and alluring but I forced myself to ignore it. I wasn't here to admire men.

His words made my blood boil. Not bad? What was that supposed to mean?

"Look, I told your driver I never wanted to see your face again! What are you doing here, huh?" I spat, my anger sharp and unfiltered.

He looked at me calmly, unfazed.

"Money... right?" he said with a smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a paper, stretching it toward me. I stepped closer and took it, reading carefully.

It was a check for millions of dollars.

I laughed in disbelief, then ripped the paper into shreds and flung the pieces in his face.

"You think I'm after your money? I'm not some cheap whore you can buy!" I shouted, furious. "I saved your life. That's it."

"I'm not interested in your money! Get lost, or I swear I'll kill you right here!" I added, eyes searching the room for something anything to use as a weapon. I felt cornered and enraged. I had saved his life, and this was the outcome? Maybe I should've just let him die.

I glanced around the desk but found nothing useful.

"Get the hell out of here!" I yelled, pointing at him with fury.

His face remained cold, though that cruel smirk still played on his lips a side of him I'd never seen before. And it unsettled me.

Fear? Not again. I hated that feeling.

"What if I don't leave? What will you do?" he said, his voice laced with ice.

At that moment, I was at a loss for words. I simply glared at him.

"I have no business with you," I snapped and turned to leave. But his next words froze me in my tracks.

"The child inside you... is my business," he said, his tone unchanging.

"The child? It's not yours!" I retorted sharply. "I've slept with a couple of guys since you. So don't concern yourself with someone else's baby."

I hated myself for saying that. It made me sound cheap. But I didn't care anymore. As long as he stayed out of my life, I'd be fine.

"I'm curious..." he began, his gaze softening.

But I cut him off before he could finish.

"Keep your curiosity to yourself," I snapped, hissed, and stormed out of the room.

I hurried out of the hospital and boarded a taxi straight home.

When I arrived, my mother was already awake, reading a newspaper.

"Mo—Mother," I said with a nervous smile, bending to hug her.

"Why did you leave home without telling me?" she asked. I scratched my head, trying to come up with a convincing lie.

But she continued, "Don't worry about anything… The father of your child came to see me. He offered a marriage proposal. I'm glad he's taking responsibility. You have my blessing."

I stepped back in disbelief.

"Mother? What are you saying?" I asked, stunned. How does she know I'm pregnant?

"When you left, some people came to the house and told me about your pregnancy. He proposed, and I said yes," she said, her expression calm. "I'm just glad he's a responsible man and the one you love."

Love? Who told her I loved that bastard? I wanted to scream.

"Mother, you're getting it wrong—" I tried to explain, and how did he know I was pregnant beforehand, but she cut me off.

"I'm not wrong. I don't see why you'd give a random man your first time if he wasn't the one you planned to marry," she said, her voice tinged with anger now.

"If you didn't want children, you should've been more responsible, okay?" she added, softer this time but the warning in her tone was unmistakable.

I nodded quickly, trying to hold back the tears. Then I rushed to my room, slammed the door, and cried.

I hated everything happening around me. I hated him the most.

Why would he show up just to make my life even more chaotic?

I wished everything would just go away. I wanted my life back. A normal, peaceful life.

But how can I end this nightmare?

Killing him again would only get me into deeper trouble. I touched my flat stomach, and a sad smile tugged at my lips.

"Don't resent me if I kill your dad… or you. Because keeping you both in my life will only make things worse," I whispered, a tear slipping down my cheek.

I couldn't keep this child not when I wasn't even sure I'd survive long enough to raise the child. I'd rather send the child off before dying myself.

It would be even more heartbreaking if I died with my unborn child still inside me.

I stayed locked in my room for hours until I heard my mother calling me.

I came out and descended the stairs into our sitting room only to find him sitting comfortably on our sofa, wearing a gentle smile.

My eye twitched in disbelief. Rage surged in me.

I wanted to rip that smile off his face and send him straight to hell.

"Babe," he said with a bright smile.

I stood there, stunned, fists clenched, heart pounding.
