Chapter 2 - Chap. 1: A second chance?

When I opened my eyes again, I was lying on a rather soft floor.

Am I in heaven?

I get up from the floor and look around.

It was a fairly spacious room, with a desk, sofas, wardrobes…

And me… am I… sitting on a bed?

What—?!

I get up from the bed.

What just happened? Where am I? Who am I?

Near one of the many wardrobes, I find a mirror and look at myself.

A woman with black hair and light blue eyes.

What a beautiful woman…

Why does this face seem familiar…?

Knock knock!

Someone was knocking at the door.

"Miss, are you awake?" asks a female voice from the other side.

I smooth my hair with my hands and straighten my pajamas.

"Yes," I answer, simply.

The door opens and a girl of about 20 enters, her head bowed and her hands trembling a little.

"Good morning, Miss Aurora. I've come to get you ready. Your whole family is waiting in the dining room for breakfast."

What did she just say?

Aurora?

Me?

"How? What?" I ask without thinking.

The girl still doesn't look up.

"I-I've come to p-preper you for breakfast with your f-family…"

"No, how did you just call me?"

The girl starts shaking violently and falls to her knees, putting her hands together. Finally, she lifts her head to look at me.

"Please, Miss, don't punish me. I didn't mean any offense," she says, crying.

"Oh, geez. Such energy first thing in the morning," I think to myself as I scratch my ear.

"I beg your forgiveness, Miss Ashcroft."

What?! Ashcroft?!

I turn to the mirror.

This face…

This is definitely the face of Aurora Ashcroft.

And now I'm that villainess…

Well, I don't know what to think. I don't know if this is a second chance (where I'm supposed to be happy I didn't die??) or another hell where everyone stares at me…

ANYWAY, I'm going to take this opportunity to enjoy the luxuries and the food without doing anything. Without getting near the protagonists of this story.

I turn to the servant, who is still kneeling.

"Get up and prepare a bath for me."

This is how a real villainess should act, right? I mean, if I suddenly act kindly, they'll get suspicious, won't they…?

After the shower and a change of clothes, the servant guides me to the dining room, where the rest of Aurora's family—my family—was waiting.

I enter the dining room, and the first thing I see is a GIANT table, quite long. At the head of one corner sits Aurora's mother, Marchioness Aurelia Ashcroft, head of the family. To her right is the father, Leandro, a short and plump man. To Aurelia's left are Aurora's two brothers, the older Alfonso and the younger Alexander.

"Good morning, family," I say with my brightest smile.

I can't believe the characters I created are in front of me—they're the most beautiful people.

"Good morning, dear," my mother replies.

I sit next to my father, across from Alexander, who is looking at me strangely.

"What?" I ask, looking him up and down.

"Nothing," he replies, staring at his plate.

The servants begin bringing the dishes. Meat, fish, salads, cakes…

Who eats all of that for breakfast?

Anyway, I started eating.

After breakfast, I go back to my room and throw myself onto the bed.

I ring the bell next to the bed.

A different servant enters. Trembling, of course.

"M-Miss, did you call me?"

"Yes."

"H-How c-can I h-help you, m-miss?"

I sigh… Seems like everyone in this mansion is afraid of me…

"Why are you afraid of me if I haven't done anything?"

And it's true.

Aurora never touched any servant—she only looked at them coldly, since she didn't want to get her hands dirty. She only touched nobles: hitting them, pulling their hair, whatever.

"W-Well… a-about that," she begins, trembling even more and lowering her head further. "M-Miss has an a-aura that's a l-little intimidating… And a-all the servants g-gossip about y-you…"

Seriously? So I'm going to spend the rest of my life with servants who are scared of me and can't even speak properly?

I sigh…

"You can leave."

The servant bows and leaves the room.

What should I do about this…?

Maybe I should be nicer to them? No, that wouldn't work—they'd only fear me more.

I've got it! I'll go to my mother's office and propose the idea to her.
