Chapter 3 – The Neighbor Who Wasn't There
Next morning.
Arjun ran to his neighbor's flat.
Mrs. Dutta.
She had lived there for years.
He rang the bell.
A man opened the door.
"Yes?"
"Where is Mrs. Dutta?"
He frowned.
"No one by that name lives here."
"But she's been here for five years!"
The man shook his head.
"I moved here three years ago. This flat was empty before that."
Empty?
Impossible.
Arjun's breath shortened.
Then he noticed something.
On the wall inside the flat—
A mirror.
Cracked.
And on the crack…
Someone had written with a finger:
"YOU'RE NEXT."
The man followed his gaze.
"What are you staring at? There's nothing there."
Nothing?
But Arjun could clearly see it.
The writing.
The crack.
The shadow behind the man—
Staring directly at him.
Smiling.
