Chapter 3 - Chapter 2 : The First Soul Ring

Year 2627, Silverpike City, Heaven Dou Empire

Next Morning

POV: Kong Deming

After talking with my family about my second martial spirit—which I can barely comprehend, aside from its space-time elemental control—it's honestly overpowered for the Douluo world. But it's mine, so I'll take it.

After much deliberation, we decided that I will cultivate for 18 days before obtaining my first soul ring. Before that, we need to identify soul beasts that enhance the Moon Martial Soul and grant skills useful even in the later stages of cultivation.

First, I need to call upon the Hogyoku to see what's happening with it. Back in Soul Society, I could only vaguely hint at what I wanted, but now it feels like a wish-fulfillment machine. Of course, to make proper use of it, I have to stick to manageable wishes—soul skills, spirit bones, things like that—not something absurd like "Give me God Trials for the Heavenly Chaos Divine Nameless Emperor."

Currently, I'm wishing to improve my cultivation speed and its purity. Perhaps due to fusing with the Hogyoku, my mental energy feels limitless, growing at an incredible pace. I can sense auras, emotions, and relative strengths of people—not exact levels, but comparisons. My father? Definitely above level 70. Probably because his martial soul is more present in him than my mother's.

I'm guessing my father is a Soul Saint. Good background, not bad.

Judging by the state of Spirit Hall, and with Qian Xunji still alive… I can't even remember the years of Tang San's birth or Qian Xunji's death. Ffs.

This Douluo world makes me dread the future—not my future, because once I grow properly, I'll definitely reach level 99, maybe even God Realm. What worries me is what comes after Tang San destroys Spirit Hall: a continent crawling with evil soul masters in Huo Yunhao's time.

Shrek monopolizes talents across three empires yet can't maintain peace like Spirit Hall once did. Maybe I could improve my clan's genetics, ensuring they always reach a limit Douluo level…? If I become a god, perhaps it would secure my family's future.

Well… first things first. Cultivate and take it one step at a time.

Nearly a Month Later

Outskirts of Star Dou Forest

POV: Kong Yusheng

"Are you sure you want to try absorbing a 500-year-old soul ring?"

"Yes, father. I'm confident my physical strength is enough. You've already tested me before we left to hunt soul beasts."

This son of mine is foolhardy. His strength surpasses any newly awakened soul master. I've never seen a newly awakened Dragon Soul trainee, but I doubt they could match him. Still, it's risky. I'll have to be careful, though he's sharp enough to notice almost anything I do.

We've been searching for a suitable soul beast for three days. Moving steadily through the forest, I keep my perception alert to avoid disturbing any soul beasts we don't want.

A faint wing sound catches my attention. A Lunar Silver Eagle—a soul beast with strong Lunar and Light attributes—perfect for my son.

I summon my martial soul: a sharp silver spear engraved with intricate runes. Seven rings—yellow, yellow, purple, purple, black, black, black—surround me. I activate the second ring, boosting the spear's strength and durability, then strike, knocking the bird down.

As the bird thrashes under my leg, I nod to my son to finish it.

POV: Kong Deming

Reading Douluo before, I never truly understood it. But now… killing a soul beast to strengthen ourselves… lower-level beasts might lack intelligence, but still… could I kill a dog or cat?

I've made many mistakes. I killed people, experimented on criminals to perfect the Hogyoku in Bleach… it stings a bit. Everything I've learned in both worlds tells me that maintaining balance or order is useless here. Only the strong eat; the weak starve.

A pitiful world. I'm weak, so I must first become strong.

I draw my knife from my soul tool ring, a gift from my father, and finish off the bird. I begin absorbing the soul ring.

After about an hour, I feel a special energy move toward my back. I recognize it: an external soul bone. I don't need wings, though.

I use the Hogyoku to transform the external bone into an eye-type soul bone, split into two to cover both eyes. For powers… Rikugan? My control over soul power is precise thanks to my immense spiritual prowess. Wait… Shiba Tatsuyam's Elemental Eye—the ability to read information from the seen to the unseen… yes. I can have the Hogyoku develop that power, increasing its age from 400 years to… wait, 400? Didn't Dad say it was a suitable beast? I thought it was 500…

I'll deal with that later. As the Hogyoku finishes enhancing the Elemental Eye Soul Bone, its age reaches 1000 years. I begin reading the information in the air, soul power between heaven and earth, our bodies, martial souls, trees… luckily, my mental abilities are immense.

As soon as I finish absorbing the soul ring, I see a sheepish-looking man.

"I know you could've probably absorbed 500, maybe 600, but as your father, I couldn't risk it. Leaving my son's life to chance is unacceptable. For your second martial soul, whatever you want, I'll hunt it down—even a 100,000-year-old beast. I'd give my life if needed. But for your first soul ring, just standard… maybe a bit over the top, but not life-threatening."

"I understand, Father. But I truly could've handled it smoothly. I didn't even feel the strain absorbing my first soul ring."

POV: Third Person

Year 2627, Silverpike City, Heaven Dou Empire

Kong Manor

Father and son return to the manor. Grandpa Tianxiong commands Ming'er—Kong Deming—to unleash his first soul.

The silver-haired six-year-old calls his Moon Spirit to his right hand. A medium dark yellow soul ring rises near his feet and flashes.

The Moon Spirit unleashes a silver moonlight slash: fast, precise, stronger than a second-level soul skill of normal soul masters. Clearly, the quality of his Moon Spirit exceeds expectations.

"What level are you now, Deming?" asks Grandpa Tianxiong.

"Level 13, Grandpa. Middle of 13."

"I see. Work hard. Your future is limitless if you don't stop."

POV: Kong Deming

I flop onto my bed, staring at the ceiling. I've analyzed everything around me. I can control it at will, even creating variations of my first soul skill faster thanks to this eye—a cheat unlike any other.

When I stop working, my future looms in my mind.

I am confident I will become a god. Even without an inheritance, I can create one with the Hogyoku. What will I leave for future generations?

In Bleach, I didn't do much, but at least Aizen won't be able to complete his Hogyoku now that mine is here. My original world… forget it. I can't remember enough—it frustrates me.

In this world, the path is eternal life: endless research and strength accumulation. But what should I do?

Suddenly, a thought arises: somewhere in Douluo sequel, soul beasts migrated to another planet. But I don't know how they handled soul rings.

I've only read Douluo 1 and 2. Most of my knowledge comes from being the level 10 Soul Tool Master of Sun Moon Empire. I know a soul spirit might work, but it still requires a dying soul beast—no freedom.

Artificial rings… possible, right? If god-bestowed rings exist, artificial ones should too. But the energy required to convert even one, let alone thousands, would be enormous.

I've decided my goals:

Become a God

Solve the Spirit Ring problem

If I solve it, I must ensure it doesn't fall into the hands of someone like Tang San, who would likely seal it for the Tang Clan alone.

Ah… the Kong family. Maybe I could use the Hogyoku to modify Martial Souls and genetics, ensuring future descendants safeguard it.
