Victor Kingsley did not raise his voice.
He didn't need to.
"Sit," he said.
Darius obeyed.
Victor poured two glasses of whiskey and slid one across the desk. "I hear you're distracted."
"I'm handling everything," Darius replied.
Victor studied him carefully. "That woman. She's not for you."
Darius' jaw tightened. "You don't even know her."
Victor leaned back. "That's exactly why I don't trust her."
Silence stretched between them.
"I built this empire so you would never be weak," Victor continued. "Love makes men blind."
Darius stood. "Then maybe blindness is better than becoming you."
The glass shattered against the wall behind him.
Victor's smile was slow. Dangerous.
"You sound like a man choosing his own destruction."
Darius walked out without looking back
