There is someone walking around," Death said,
"who escaped dying."
"And?"
"And the universe doesn't like mistakes."
Lena crossed her arms.
"So fix it yourself."
"I can't."
"Why?"
"Because I caused it."
Her stomach dropped.
"You mean… me?"
Death didn't answer.
Which was worse.
"We need to find the person responsible," he said.
"Before the balance collapses."
"And if we don't?"
"More wrong deaths."
Lena remembered the man in the café.
Her chest tightened.
"What do I have to do?"
Death finally smiled.
