Chapter 114 - Hold The Line

They ran through streets that didn't look like the ones from two days ago.

Buildings burned in scattered patches, smoke rolling through the streets in thick black columns. Snow had melted into filthy slush wherever flames had taken hold, streaked red where blood mixed into the ice.

Broken shields, snapped spears, and shattered relics littered the roads, some still leaking fading strands of aether into the cold air. Bodies lay where they had fallen, littered, human and elf alike, abandoned in the chaos, and Arthur couldn't tell who had killed whom anymore. Somewhere nearby, someone screamed for a healer until the voice cut off so suddenly it made his stomach tighten.

Theodore's weight sagged harder between them with every block.

"Stay with me Theo, STAY WITH ME!," Arthur said, breath tearing out ragged. "Theo. Stay awake.. Please.."

"It's so cold.. Vex," Theodore whispered. His voice had gone thin, distant. "Cold."
