Chapter 1 - THE DAWN

DAHOMEY: 17th century

__Loud sounds from far...loud horns blowing coming from the sea. The people wonder if the foreigners are back for more trade as the saw for their tradeing is still far ahead. Soldiers runs to the shores to welcome the visitors they were not expecting, om getting there the could see the ships heading towards them were more than 50 and this caused a panic for them...messengers were sent to the king immediately to inform him about the situation. As the ship drew closer to the shore the soldiers number increased as they were no fool to things like this as this was how OYO invaded them and took over their port. "The white men are here", the messaged said gasping for breath as he approached the king on his thrown and he asked "why are they here this early?", the messaged replied saying everyone are as shocked and the soldiers are at the shore already. War was in the air. Back in the shore, the soldiers already blocking the white men from entering seeing them with guns they had never seen before and tools they found stranger. "We greet you Africans, this is no way to welcome guests now is it?", Alexandra said. The people of Dahomey were aware of the situation but does not believe that Alexander could betray them; although after they stopped trading slaves with them they exchanged their resources with them so this betrayal came as a shock to them. The leader of the Amazon warriors same forward and stood opposite Alex facing him directly, "what is this madness?, why all these ships and why are you here?". "We are here for business if you could tell your warriors to put your weapons down everything would go smoothly and no one will get hurt", he said with a smirk on his face. She signaled her warrior to lower their weapons. Alexander looking at all the guns being put down signaled his men to enter the village and this made the Amazon warriors move into action. Their leader kofi striked Alex and she was immediately held back by him men. "You liar", she spat.

Gun shots were heard from the palace as the white soldiers began to invade and the Amazon warriors fought back but it was a fight they could not win as they were out numbered. The king and his queen were escorted to safer grounds by his men and the war began. Bombs flew left and right and the screams of women and children could be heard everywhere. The smell of blood filled the air...the warriors were killed and the people running from the white soldiers.

The king's family were taken to the 'Aho' for hiding while him men stand as guards. Alex key shouting orders to his men and they took kofi as their captive. Their goal was to capture slaves and take over. Some men were sent out to look for the king and capture him.

As his men departed he shouted "bring his daughter alive".

The wore lasted the whole day and the king was captured at night and beheaded. The queen was killed as well and only their daughter was spared. The people who survived were captured as slaves and put in chains for departure to England immediately.

One by one is chains they walked into the ships and were sent off. Hangbe the princess of Dahomey turned orphan and slave over night, everything felt like a nightmare. She was captured last as she tried to flee.....chained on her neck and hands she was placed before Alex as he looked at her. "Perfect", he said and smiled.

Hangbe was known as the most beautiful girl in Dahomey. Her father the king and her mother who was the product of a white man and an Amazon warrior's affair. Hangbe was known for her beautiful hair and blue eyes which made her names the blue eyed princess. Her skin as brown as coacoa and beautiful lips...….she was adored by all especially her father so was so proud of her. No one in the village was allowed to bear the same name as her as it was made a sacred name.

She was moved to the ship and chained to the ground. Tears filled her eyes and she cried her eyes out till she couldn't see and she slept. Waking up to the sound of ship horns and screams coming from her people. "So it wasn't a dream", she said to herself. Dried tear lines on her face and her nose filled with catarrh she could hardly breath. Raising her head she saw Alex beside her.....she was kept separately so she couldn't see her people. "You're awake", he said. He wasn't hoping for a response so he continued...… "it's not my fault all this happened i was just following orders", he said with a sigh. Still no response...…..he got up and felt closing the door behind him. Tears built up in her eyes as she cried silently thinking about her father and mother. The thought of everything happening on her birthday when she finally became a woman and was bethrothed to the prince of OYO the breakthrough her people needed now everything fell apart.

The floor was cold and the chains heavy, she kept crying as she sang the comfort song her mother sings to her every times...…..
