Chapter 5 - The First Time I Saw Her

Kang min ho POV:

The city lights blurred outside the car window.

I didn't go immediately waited until she went inside .

Han Ji-soo.

She believed I picked her because she was ordinary.

But the truth was—

I know her from long back

Two years ago.

Late evening.

It was winter.

I had just left a business dinner didn't want to attend. The cold air felt easier than the people inside.

While walking past a small convenience store, noticed a small commotion near the entrance.

An old man had slipped on the icy pavement.

People walked around him.

No one stopped.

Except one person.

A girl hurried over and knelt beside him.

"Sir, can you stand? Slowly."

Her hands were cold but gentle as she helped him sit up. She brushed snow from his coat and went inside the store.

I watched silently from a distance.

She returned with warm water and tissues she paid for herself.

"You should wait until someone comes," she told the old man kindly.

The old man kept thanking her.

She just smiled.

Not proudly.

Not for attention.

Just naturally kind.

She turned to leave, then noticed me watching.

For a brief moment our eyes met.

She simply gave a small polite nod and walked away.

That was all.

But strangely—

I kept watching until she disappeared.

Days later saw her again near the company building.

Then again at the subway.

Always rushing. Always busy. Always the same expression.

But never approached her.

There was no reason to.

Until the arranged marriage appeared.

And then she literally fell into my arms.

I almost smiled that day.

Because for the first time—

fate made the decision easy.

Back in the present ,started the engine and drove off.
