Chapter 5 - Index: Homeworld

Homeworld

Little is known of the original homeworld of the Grey Scholars apart from the foundations built upon science instead of nobility. Of knowledge instead of strength. Of a technocracy rather than an aristocracy ruling over billions.

It is noted by fragmentary Remembrancer reports of the purity of air, water, and land of the original homeworld of the Grey Scholars. Continuing on the purity of the world, they wrote that the architecture mirrored the personality of society of the humans of the world. They focused on efficiency and practicality over excess beauty and impractical architecture.

Instead of towering skyscrapers or congested, multi-layered hive-cities the Imperium knows. No. They wrote that the hive-cities of these worlds were spacious and built upon efficiency without sacrificing dignity and comfort.

Massive scientific networks and complexes dotted the world. Further fragments of Remembrancer writings state that the hive-cities extended not just vertically but horizontally as well. Akin to a massive tree, the 'roots' of these hive-cities were long, complex but efficient creations with the majority of the population living in them.

The Iyanden Folders speak of the continuation of such layout on the new homeworld of the Grey Scholars known as The Abode. They speak of towering spires of dozens of hive-cities all over with the greatest of these being the first and foremost of all cities of Gradimora.

Industry on the planet is said to be of the most rudimentary and basic because of the desire of the Scholars to keep the air and noise pollution low for comfort of both the civilian population as well as the sanctity of research and experimentation of the Scholars.

At the geographic center of the planet there were built hundreds of towers however greatest among them are the Sectarian Towers which inhabit the Sect Episkopoi who are the foremost scientists and academics of their specific sect. Further, the Sectarian Towers are noted to store the vaults of ancient and forgotten technologies of the Dark Age of Man as well as xenos sciences of the highest tech-heresy.

At the center of all these towers is the Patria Columna or the Paternal Column. This gigantic spire which pierces the atmosphere of The Abode is stated to be the home of the Gene-Lord as well as his center of genetic and immaterial experiments as the Iyanden farseers write of how non-Chaos Warp entities swarm around the spire as if flies to light.

Further notes of the Patria Columna state that the column pierces even downwards, deep into the planet nearly reaching the center if the farseers are to be trusted. It is written that the underground of the column house the most dangerous of material and immaterial experiments of the Legion as even the Sectarian Towers are not fully capable of wholly safeguarding these phenomena.
