Aisha's heart was racing as she tried to play it cool. "What do you mean?" she asked Rachel, trying to laugh it off. But Rachel wasn't having it.
She put down Aisha's phone and looked her straight in the eye. "You're pretending to be someone you're not," she said, her voice firm but gentle. "I've seen your posts, Aisha. I know you're not as perfect as you make it seem."
Aisha felt like she'd been punched in the gut. How did Rachel see through her so easily? She looked away, trying to gather her thoughts. "I'm just trying to keep up with the times," she said, trying to downplay it. But Rachel wasn't buying it.
"You don't have to do this, Aisha," Rachel said, her voice softening. "You can be real. You can be yourself. Why are you hiding behind this fake life?"
