Moments later, Haku lifted the unconscious Zabuza and used Body Flicker Technique to retreat through the trees.
He had been searching for an opportunity to escape.
Seeing Renji distracted gave him the chance.
"Teacher Renji, don't worry about me, go chase the enemy!"
Naruto shouted loudly.
"Ultimate: Shattering Ice Crystals."
Haku clasped his hands together and released a massive wave of freezing air that enveloped Team 7 and the others before forming another mountain-like ice crystal.
"Water Release: Great Waterfall Technique."
Haku rapidly changed hand seals as a huge wave surged forward toward Renji.
He used all remaining Chakra just to ensure a safe retreat.
Naruto's smile vanished as the freezing air surrounded him.
"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Teacher Renji, please save me!"
"Troublesome Brat."
Renji transformed into lightning as a cyan flash streaked across the battlefield.
In less than a fraction of a second, he transported Team 7 and Tazuna safely onto a nearby hill.
Team 7 immediately breathed in relief.
If Renji had not acted just now, they would have been frozen instantly.
That technique was terrifying.
Their blood nearly froze just from being close to it.
"Running pretty fast."
Renji scanned the entire forest using the Tenseigan's Byakugan vision but could no longer detect Haku.
That little cross-dresser was quite capable.
Even after using so many techniques, he still escaped with Zabuza.
Still, he would eventually become Team 7's stepping stone.
Naruto knelt on the ground and apologized.
"I'm very sorry. The enemy escaped because of me."
"Because you three dragged me down, the enemy escaped completely," Renji looked down at them coldly.
"Atone with your deaths."
He did not actually care.
The escape was part of his plan.
But he deliberately scolded them to force growth within seven days.
"Honestly, I'm very disappointed. I've lost my patience. You are the worst students I've ever taught. When the enemy appears again, you will handle it yourselves.
If you cannot defeat them, go back to school and study properly instead of playing ninja."
"Sorry..." Sakura lowered her head with reddened eyes.
Was Teacher Renji disappointed in them? He had always guided them patiently.
Now they only showed weakness.
Team 7 remained silent with heads lowered in shame.
They understood he was right.
Their weakness allowed the enemy to escape.
They had to become stronger.
Watching their teacher fight alone like that was unbearable.
Renji spoke seriously.
"Five days. I'll give you five days to train and defeat the enemy. If you cannot do something this simple, I will give up on Team 7."
Naruto immediately looked up with determination.
"Don't worry, Teacher Renji. Since the enemy escaped because of me, I'll definitely become stronger and prove it to you!"
Sasuke clenched his fist tightly.
"Teacher Renji, please give me strength. I will become stronger immediately."
His pride could not accept weakness.
And if Renji abandoned Team 7, how could he gain the strength needed for revenge?
He had to keep Renji as his teacher.
"I will work hard too!" Sakura spoke firmly.
Renji wrapped an arm around all three of them and smiled.
"You three have talent. Don't disappoint me again."
Whip and candy.
"Don't worry, Teacher Renji!"
All three resolved themselves to become stronger within five days.
"You go ahead to the Land of Waves first. I still have something to handle here."
Renji looked toward the distance.
He could still sense Haku's Chakra signature.
"He's over there. I might as well go say hello."
Renji transformed into lightning and vanished instantly.
Far away in the forest.
Haku collapsed to the ground breathing heavily.
His entire body felt weak.
The pain from sitting down made his small body tremble again.
He had exhausted all his Chakra.
This was the first time he had ever used everything he had and still failed against a single opponent.
Renji was terrifyingly strong.
A cyan flash appeared.
Renji suddenly materialized in front of him.
"Yo."
