The ground shook violently as four massive ice walls rose and sealed Renji inside like a box.
"Ice Release: A Thousand Flying Water Needles of Death."
Haku's hand signs changed again as the freezing air around him condensed into countless sharp senbon that shot toward Renji like a swarm of bees.
The ice senbon pierced through Renji's lightning-transformed body and scattered harmlessly across the ground.
Renji casually picked up one of the senbon and examined it before saying lightly.
"A rather terrifying move. What would happen if I were actually hit by this?"
Hidden behind his white mask, Haku's expression shifted with surprise.
"Teacher Renji, I..." Naruto Uzumaki pulled out a kunai and prepared to rush forward.
"Idiot, we'd just be a burden if we went," Sasuke Uchiha raised his hand to stop him and stared coldly at Haku.
"This guy is strong."
Naruto's face darkened as he punched the nearby tree trunk in frustration and said unwillingly, "Damn it, are we just supposed to watch?"
He had trained so hard.
He had become stronger.
But when they encountered a real enemy, they could only stand there helplessly.
Damn it.
Sakura Haruno bit her lip and looked anxiously at Renji surrounded by Ice Release techniques in the distance as she muttered softly, "Teacher Renji..."
"Secret Art: Exploding Ice Crystals."
Haku suddenly leaped backward and clasped his hands together as a massive amount of Chakra erupted from his body and transformed into terrifying cold air.
The freezing mist enveloped Renji and quickly condensed into a gigantic six-pointed crystal resembling a small mountain.
Everything trapped inside would be completely frozen by the overwhelming cold.
This was Haku's strongest and most dangerous Ice Release technique, a Secret Art far surpassing Demonic Mirroring Ice Crystals.
After their first exchange, Haku already understood Renji's strength had reached a level ordinary ninja could not touch.
He had to end the battle immediately.
Dragging the fight out would only lead to defeat.
"There's no need to go all out the moment we meet. At least do some foreplay. You can't rush things."
Inside the massive crystal, Renji tapped the ice thoughtfully and glanced at the frost forming on the back of his hand.
This cold could bypass elementalization and directly affect the user's true body.
If not for his enormous Chakra reserves, he might already have turned into an ice sculpture.
This little cross-dresser actually had an interesting technique hidden away.
His overall strength had probably reached a weak Kage-level.
"Repel."
Renji raised one finger as dark black matter emerged from its tip and a powerful repulsive force exploded outward in all directions.
The lake trembled violently as cracks spread across the enormous crystal before it shattered completely.
Huge chunks of ice scattered everywhere.
"So amazing!" Naruto's eyes widened as he shouted in disbelief, "Teacher Renji, I know that move! I was sent flying by it before!"
Team 7 fell silent.
They had gained tremendous insight today.
They finally understood just how powerful Renji truly was.
Logically speaking, having a strong teacher should make them happy.
But instead, all three of them felt heavy-hearted.
Throughout the mission, they had done nothing.
Ever since the appearance of an A-rank rogue ninja, they had only been burdens.
Renji had to fight while protecting them.
That helplessness weighed heavily on them.
"Power. I must obtain power!" Sasuke stared grimly at the battlefield in the distance.
A level he could not yet reach.
A burden? He was actually a burden?
Impossible.
He needed power. He had to obtain power.
