Chapter 8 - Chapter 8: What Wish Should We Make?

Kakashi Hatake lowered his head and did not reply.

He thought of his father.

Kakashi Hatake's father was named Sakumo Hatake, once one of Konoha Village's top Ninjas.

The man known by the epithet 'White Fang of Konoha' dominated the battlefield with a single Ninja sword, earning great fame during the Second Great Ninja War.

This was an era before the Legendary Sannin of Konoha had even matured.

Sakumo Hatake accumulated numerous merits on the battlefield, his prestige rivaling that of the Hokage.

Many villagers even began to see him as the next candidate for Hokage.

Unfortunately, during one mission.

The team led by Sakumo Hatake fell into a trap, and many comrades were captured by the enemy.

To complete the mission, he would have to abandon these comrades.

And if he tried to rescue his comrades, the mission would most likely fail.

For the Ninja profession, the mission is paramount; Ninjas are duty-bound to complete their missions.

It was expected that Sakumo Hatake would prioritize the mission over his comrades.

Yet, unexpectedly, this man chose to rescue his comrades.

Just as Sakumo Hatake broke into the enemy camp to save his comrades.

They were ambushed. The enemy had laid a trap right there, waiting for him to walk into it.

The entire squad was wiped out, with only Sakumo Hatake and a handful of others managing to escape.

After the war, rumors spread throughout the Village, slandering Sakumo Hatake.

He was accused of abandoning the mission, making the wrong choice, leading to mission failure and heavy losses.

The temperamentally extreme Sakumo Hatake took his own life at home one day, putting an inglorious end to his brilliant life.

Leaving behind the pitiful Kakashi Hatake all alone.

Originally, because of this incident, a rule was carved into young Kakashi Hatake's heart.

The rule that 'a Ninja's duty is to complete the mission'.

He became extreme, cold-blooded, and unfeeling, treating his comrades as tools.

It wasn't until Minato Namikaze gradually influenced him that he returned to the right path.

And now, a similar problem appeared before his eyes.

The elderly, less valuable Third Hokage.

The young, more valuable Fourth Hokage.

When the two options were placed before him, he instinctively wanted to choose the more valuable one.

But Minato Namikaze told him seriously:

"Life is not something that can be measured."

And clearly, Minato Namikaze himself truly believed this.

When Nara Shikaku solemnly stated:

"I choose answer B: Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze."

And Ye Chen nodded with a smile, indicating the answer was correct.

Kakashi Hatake felt as if a small hole had been poked in his mind.

A fresh, warm thought drilled into his mind and took firm root.

So, comrades really are more important than the mission.

"You were right, Father."

He silently said these words in his heart, then opened his eyes, and the world became clear.

The change within Kakashi Hatake's heart was unknown to Minato Namikaze and Nara Shikaku.

They began to look forward to the fourth question.

Ye Chen did notice Kakashi Hatake seemed somewhat unsettled, but he didn't pay it much mind.

This time, the protagonist of the Quiz Space was clearly not that white-haired guy.

With a wave of his hand, the points of light gathered again, revealing the fourth question:

"Question Four: What sealing jutsu did Fourth Hokage Minato Namikaze use to seal the Nine-Tailed in an emergency?"

Answer A: Four Symbols Seal.

Answer B: Eight Trigrams Sealing Style.

Answer C: Adamantine Sealing Chains.

Answer D: Reaper Death Seal.

A sealing jutsu?

Did I sacrifice myself to seal the Nine-Tailed?

Minato Namikaze thought to himself.

This made sense to him. After all, given his strength and the Flying Thunder God Technique,

No matter how strong the Nine-Tailed was, it couldn't have killed him.

So, to protect the Village, using a sealing jutsu to seal the Nine-Tailed, leading to his sacrifice,

That logically made sense.

Then, regarding this sealing jutsu that caused his death, Minato Namikaze thought of the answer.

It could only be that jutsu. Among the four answers, except for answer C, Adamantine Sealing Chains, which he didn't know,

After all, that was a secret sealing technique of the Uzumaki Clan.

It required Uzumaki bloodline to perform easily. For outsiders without the Uzumaki bloodline,

It was extremely difficult to learn, and even if learned, its power wouldn't match that of an Uzumaki user.

His wife, Uzumaki Kushina, was very skilled with the Adamantine Sealing Chains.

As for the remaining three: Four Symbols Seal, Eight Trigrams Sealing Style, and Reaper Death Seal,

Minato Namikaze was very proficient in all of them.

Among these three sealing jutsu, the one that would cost the user's life was only the Reaper Death Seal.

So the answer was clearly D.

Kakashi Hatake was somewhat puzzled. He glanced at Minato Namikaze and asked:

"Sensei, if you sealed the Nine-Tailed, why did you still die?"

"Because that jutsu requires the user's own life as the price."

Minato Namikaze sighed and explained.

"The Reaper Death Seal is a secret sealing technique of the Uzumaki Clan."

"At the cost of the user's life, it summons the Shinigami from the Pure Land, using the user's body as a vessel to seal the target."

"It is a very dangerous forbidden jutsu."

Nara Shikaku nodded in understanding. He hadn't heard of this sealing jutsu before.

Probably a forbidden jutsu only the Hokage could learn.

"I choose answer D: Reaper Death Seal."

Nara Shikaku said.

Having answered three questions correctly in a row, Ye Chen was very happy and nodded with a smile:

"Congratulations, the answer is correct."

"Next is the fifth question, which is also the final question."

"Answer this question correctly, and you will receive a wish-granting reward. Any wish can be realized."

"Do you need some time first to think about what wish you want to make?"

Ye Chen smiled as he looked at the three of them and asked this question.

Immediately, he ignited a small flame in their hearts.

Previously, while answering questions, there was no tangible sense of reality, so the three of them remained relatively calm.

But now, when Ye Chen personally stated that answering this final question correctly could grant any wish,

Minato Namikaze and the other two finally felt the weight of those words.

"Sensei! Obito he..."

Kakashi Hatake suddenly looked up, his eyes filled with longing as he looked at Minato Namikaze.

The chance to revive his dear friend was right before his eyes, and Kakashi Hatake didn't want to miss it!

"But, after all, it's a wish. If used for something practical..."

Nara Shikaku spoke up, somewhat hesitantly.

Emotionally speaking, it seemed he shouldn't be speaking up at this moment.

But as the Hokage's chief strategist, on major issues, Nara Shikaku felt he must provide the correct judgment.

Using such an opportunity to revive an Uchiha clansman who wasn't even a Jonin,

Wouldn't that be too wasteful?

Seeing the look in Kakashi Hatake's eyes, Minato Namikaze didn't respond immediately. Instead, he asked:

"Shikaku, what kind of wish do you think would be more appropriate?"

This stumped Nara Shikaku.

He had just felt that reviving Uchiha Obito wasn't cost-effective, but as for what specific wish to make, he didn't have any good ideas.

Money?

Konoha may not have mountains of gold and silver, but located in the most fertile land of the Land of Fire,

It receives a large annual military aid budget from the Land of Fire's Daimyo.

The Village's own economic situation is good, and its share of missions consistently ranks first among the Five Great Nations.

Could money possibly be lacking?

Power?

Not to mention Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage, who is already firmly one of the most revered figures in the Ninja World.

Even he himself holds a top position in Konoha Village, wielding significant power as the Chief Advisor.

Power is only a heavy burden on their shoulders, not a goal to pursue.

Beauty?

That's too vulgar. Both Nara Shikaku and Minato Namikaze are already married, and Kakashi Hatake is only fourteen this year.

None of them seem like the type to crave beauty.

What's left then?

Life?

All three are very young, only a small part of their lives has passed; they're not that anxious about it.

Power?

Minato Namikaze already stands at the pinnacle of the Ninja World; his desire for power isn't strong.

He himself, as a civil officer, isn't known for strength.

Kakashi Hatake is the top genius of his generation; by following the normal path of growth,

He will also stand at the pinnacle of the Ninja World in the future.

So, what wish should they make after all?
