Chapter 74 - Chapter 94: The Flutter of Thought and the Velocity of Junk

The turn of the century into 99 BBY was marked on Toydaria not by grand orbital fireworks, but by the persistent, rhythmic hum of millions of wings. The atmosphere was thick—part swamp-gas, part industrial runoff, and part the stubborn, telepathic static that defined the Toydarian people. For Revan Shan, arriving in the Black Pearl was like steering a precision scalpel into a bowl of very thick porridge.

Revan sat in his Sovereign's Command Chair, which was currently angled at a precise thirty-nine-degree "Resonant Observation" posture. Calculus was sprawled across the dash, watching the winged locals zip past the transparisteel with a predatory flick of his tail. Theorem, the silver-and-black kitten, was busy "auditing" Eleven's retractable control arms, batting at the droid every time he chirped a navigational update.

"You see, Cortana," Revan murmured, his voice a blend of 12th Doctor gravel and 11th Doctor whimsy as he sipped a latte infused with Toydarian blue-moss syrup. "According to my 3rd Doctorate in Sentient Sociology, Toydaria is a localized miracle of neurological stubbornness. They are immune to the Jedi Mind Trick not because they are powerful, but because their brainwaves operate on a frequency of pure, unadulterated pragmatism. It's the perfect place for a Maverick to conduct a 'Mental Sovereignty Audit'."

"Atmospheric seals holding, Revan," Cortana reported through the gauntlet. "The Royal Palace has cleared us for landing. King Katuunko's great-grandfather is currently on the throne, and according to the records Miner is pulling, he is 15% more stubborn than his descendants will be. We should prepare for a very blunt welcome."

The Thought-Vault of the First King

Revan's primary objective on Toydaria wasn't political; it was archaeological. Deep beneath the Royal Palace, carved into the roots of a petrified swamp-tree, lay the Thought-Vault. It was a legendary repository said to contain the telepathic impressions of the first Toydarian kings—a literal library of un-trickable minds.

Using his 8th Doctorate in Ancient Art & Archaeology, Revan navigated the damp, buzzing corridors of the lower palace. He didn't use a torch; he used the Natural Red lightsaber on a low-intensity hum, casting a magma-glow against the walls.

"Right then," Revan muttered, pulling his Sonic Screwdriver from his belt. "The lock isn't mechanical. It's a rhythmic resonance gate tuned to the 'Toydarian Flutter'."

Whirrr-vwoop-trill.

> The Neurological Resonance Gate Equation (\Omega_{mind}):

> By his internal audit, Revan realized the vault door was kept shut by a localized bio-electric field. He used the Sonic to mimic the exact alpha-wave frequency of a Toydarian in a state of high suspicion. The lock, convinced it was being opened by a very grumpy King, hissed aside.

Inside, the loot was a masterpiece of "un-Forceable" history:

* The Crown of the Unfettered: A circlet made of Kyber-infused bronze that provides a +15% boost to mental resistance.

* 3x Memory-Gems: Crystals containing the "Pragmatic Directives" of the early dynasties.

* A Cache of 'Toydarian Silk': Material that is naturally resistant to Force-detection.

"Add it to the ledger, Miner," Revan commanded. "This silk is going to make some very nice linings for the Star-Sass seats."

The Junk-Yard Derby: Three Months of Grease

With the vault audit complete, Revan decided the crew needed a "Localized Morale Boost." The Toydarian Podrace Season was in full swing.

"Chewie," Revan said, looking at the Wookiee as they walked through the junk-choked markets of the capital. "According to my 4th Doctorate in Advanced Engineering, these locals are flying engines with a death wish. We can do better. But... no Beskar. No Phrik. No Kyber-Quantum cheats. Just raw, locally sourced junk and a very high level of sass."

For three months, the hangar of the Black Pearl became a workshop of chaotic brilliance. Revan and Chewbacca built two pods from the ground up using discarded freighter turbines and podracer wreckage.

* Pod 1: The 'Blue Box': Revan's pod, painted a deep TARDIS blue. It was narrow, aerodynamically improbable, and tuned for extreme maneuverability.

* Pod 2: The 'Wookiee Roar': Chewie's pod, a twin-turbine monster that looked like it could pull a Star Destroyer out of orbit.

HK-47 served as the pit boss. "Statement: Master, I have calculated that the probability of these biological racers colliding at high speed is 87%. Observation: I find this sport remarkably efficient at meatbag reduction."

Chopper and Eleven were in a constant state of binary warfare over the engine tuning. Eleven wanted precision; Chopper wanted to attach a flamethrower to the exhaust "for aesthetic reasons."

The race day arrived. Revan wore a small camera pinned to his robes, allowing Cortana to feed the visual data through his gauntlets so she could "participate" in the navigation.

"Go, go, go!" Revan shouted as the engines roared to life.

The race was a masterpiece of junk-physics. Revan didn't use the Force to move the pod; he used the Feeling to know exactly when the locally sourced rivets were about to snap. He finished second—losing only to a local Toydarian pro—while Chewie finished fourth after "accidentally" clipping a rival's turbine.

"Brilliant!" Revan laughed, wiping oil from his face as the cats jumped into the cockpit to congratulate him. "Adventure is the journey, D6! And today, the journey was 900 kilometers per hour through a swamp!"

The Retrieval Mission: The Council's Shackle

The fun was interrupted by a high-priority, encrypted ping from Coruscant. The Jedi Council was calling in their "Simple Mission."

"Knight Shan," Master Sol's hologram appeared, looking weary. "We have a situation in the Sullust Sector. A newly knighted Jedi, Knight Elzar, and a group of six younglings were conducting an educational tour of an abandoned Old Republic listening post. Their transport suffered a catastrophic reactor failure. The station is decaying, the atmosphere is venting, and they are stranded."

Revan sighed, the 12th Doctor's "duty" voice taking over. "And I suppose the Republic's search and rescue is 'statistically indisposed'?"

"They are four days away. You are six hours away," Sol replied. "Retrieve them, Revan. And... try to keep your 'Maverick' influence to a minimum. They are young."

"According to my heart, Sol, I'm just a high-speed taxi service," Revan quipped. "Course locked. Snap-jump in ten seconds."

The Rescue at Station 42

The Black Pearl dropped out of hyperspace next to the hulking, rusted remains of an ancient station. Revan took the Star-Sass for the actual docking, leaving Chewie on the Pearl to manage the tractor beams.

He boarded the station in his Beskar/Cortosis armor, the Sonic Screwdriver already in hand. He found the Jedi and the kids in the primary observation dome, huddled together as the emergency lights flickered red.

"Right then! Who wants a lemon candy?" Revan chirped, stepping through the airlock.

Knight Elzar looked up, eyes wide. "Knight Shan? The Maverick? We heard you were... well, we heard you were a bum."

"According to my 10th Doctorate in Galactic History, 'bum' is a title reserved for people who don't have a ship this nice," Revan grinned. "Now, everyone into the Star-Sass. We're conducting a localized evacuation audit."

One of the younglings, a small Rodian boy, pointed at Revan's Sonic Screwdriver. "Is that a lightsaber?"

"No, it's much better. It's a screwdriver! It fixes things. Lightsabers just break things, and breaking things is deeply untidy."

Revan used the Sonic to temporarily seal the hull breaches while they loaded the kids. As they flew back to the Black Pearl, he gave the younglings a "Short Lecture on the Physics of Hyperspace Napping." By the time they reached Coruscant to drop them off, the kids were all wearing "Maverick" stickers Chopper had printed and were asking for their own cat-packs.

The Sovereign's Nap: 99 BBY

With the mission complete and the kids safe, Revan retreated to his favorite spot in the Temple Archives. The Sovereign's Command Chair was tucked away behind a shelf of Old Republic navigation logs.

Calculus sat on his chest, Theorem on his lap. Miner was nearby, silently cataloging the Toydarian "Thought-Vault" data.

"Status, Cortana," Revan whispered.

"Toydaria is completed. Station 42 survivors are in the infirmary. The Star-Sass is refueled," Cortana reported. "We are 25% through the Twenty-Year Itinerary. Next stop for 98 BBY: Onderon."

"Brilliant," Revan yawned, the chair reclining to the Calculated Nap Angle of 134.5 degrees. "Adventure is the journey, D6. And 99 BBY was a masterpiece of stubborn minds, junk engines, and rescuing knights who think I'm a bum."

He closed his eyes. The Maverick was at rest. The galaxy was moving, the shadows were lengthening, but in the heart of a black freighter, the books were balanced and the dreams were kind.

"Try to be nice, 98 BBY," Revan murmured. "I'll see you at the Beast-Riders."
