Chapter 17 - Ch.17. The Entity

From an outer view, it is a passage. When you step in, it is another world. Emma was surrounded by darkness. She looked back to see if she could see the nursery, but it was gone. Luckily, she had her phone.

The light in her phone flickered; she was on a stair that went all the way down into the darkness. It was smeared with blood stains, mostly recently. "Alex, here I come." She said after breathing in deeply.

She went all the way down; the stairs looked cracked like it had been there before 95. She was certain that it won't be easy finding Alex or the entity, anyone She would recommend.

Her battery was running low, and the stairs were becoming endless, in her frustration she completely forgot to look down and planted her shoes in something squelchy. She pointed her light down and saw she had stepped on someone, Jake. His body was completely disfigured and disgusting. She still recognized his face anyway.

She started to see faint light; that was a glimpse of hope. She continued walking down. She thought she heard something, so she stopped walking and listened carefully. It was not an assumption. It was a child's voice counting backwards from ten in an unusual manner. "7, 5, 6, 3, 4, 2,1" The counting stopped. "Ready or not, here I come."

She heard footsteps coming down the stairs, like a lot of children stampeding. She started running down too; their footsteps shook the stairs. She went faster. To her horror she was no longer on the stairs; she was falling.

She landed with a splash going down, she started swimming up and finally her head was outside, she was gasping for breath. She looked back nothing followed her down. She started swimming. She pulled herself to the shore. She grabbed a hand, cold, and moist. Shrieked, she threw it away immediately. Her view got her speechless.

The surface was covered with bodies, stacked upon another. She was standing on top of bodies, lives wasted, lost in time. Whatever it was, had been there before 1995. It had wasted more than a thousand lives since its arrival. Her phone got missing in the fall; she was proceeding without it anyways.

She fell several times on oddly stacked bodies; the odor mixed with the environment so it could not be perceived. It was not fun for her either as she stepped on the bodies. She heard groaning and it was not coming from her.

The bodies started to move like they were breathing. She needed not to be told what to do, she started running, she looked back after hearing cackling and cracking, the ground was breaking, the bodies were swallowed in the rising dust.

She just had to get away from the cracks before it was too late. She was no longer stepping on bodies; the earthquake stopped. She was safe, for now she assumed. Dust rose from the ruins. In front was a fog, but amid the fog she could see it among stones; its empty eyes just focused on her.

She groaned as she stood; her knees hurt; she was almost close to solving the problem. She kept the pace even as it just remained unmoved. It was looking almost pale; its dark skin looked like a stuffed rock. Very close to its weird looking feet were lifeless bodies, not as many like the water side.

The last time she stepped on bodies, she almost died. There was no way she could reach the entity without going through the pile of bodies. Her prediction was right; the moment her feet touched the closest in the pile, she heard a crack.

It was awake.

It growled lowly as it fixed its ghostlike eyes on her. She froze at the spot as it stood from the rocks. It was huge, not human, not animal, nothing in words to describe this scary creature. She moved back when she finally recovered from the shock.

It spoke in a demonic deep voice "well, what do we have here,"

She looked at it, scared, not telling her on her face. She said in a loud voice, almost choking on her words "you have done enough, it's time to stop."

"Have I?" It asked in a weird grin. "I have been long enough to tell I'm just getting started."

Emma looked pissed at the smiling beast, it brought a big red ball and wanted to give it to her, then it looked at the size of the ball "This will crush you definitely." It said, "I need something small,"

"I'm not playing your games," She assured "You have to leave."

It laughed loudly; it echoed loud enough to disrupt hearing. It fixed its gaze on her. "You don't know how I got here, I assume."

"I will tell you, then give you a chance to leave" It said growling. "If you still resist, I will keep you here long enough to empty your soul then, you become my minion."

"No, you don't know humans," she said.

"A child in TownPort created me in her mind and a bit of dark magic to hurt oppressors." It told her to disappoint her idea of humanity.

"I've returned to TownPort seven times, because your nasty nature always stepped in the way." It educated her. She was shocked "No way," she said in rejection.

It said mimicking Alex's voice "You can't win. Time to leave."
