Chapter 138 - Chapter 138: Jack's Past (Part 1)

Ignoring Liu Lan and those people's complicated thoughts, Jack was sitting alone in a large suite. A row of Marcus's clear bullets was placed on a Thomas mahogany square table in front of him, and the originally smooth tabletop was unexpectedly carved by Jack with a small knife into a round, bizarre pattern. As Jack finished the last carving, he took a deep breath and gently blew away all the wood shavings on the table. The bizarre pattern appeared incredibly sinister under the light!

Jack's hands slowly rested on either side of the pattern. As he closed his eyes, he began to mutter some incomprehensible words. It was unclear how long it had been, but the eerie, creepy pattern suddenly emitted a layer of horrifying green light that made one's scalp tingle.

Gradually, as Jack's incomprehensible words became faster and faster, the green light grew brighter. Eventually, the ghastly green light became so bright that it formed a slowly swirling liquid shape. The green liquid seemed to be directed by someone else, purposefully and slowly attaching itself to the arranged bullets. In the end, every single drop adhered to all the bullets, bizarrely transforming into complex yet orderly patterns, resembling totems and charms!

"Hoo~"

Once the green light dissipated, the green patterns turned into black ones. Jack finally let out a heavy breath and wiped the sweat from his forehead. He picked up a nine-millimeter bullet to examine it, frowning as he muttered to himself, "Using dark power to attack darkness, colliding with each other, can it actually produce purifying power? Is it considered fighting poison with poison? Or, as La Shuer said, is darkness and light just two sides of the same coin?"

Jack held the bullet and thought for a long time, shaking his head in confusion. After he put away all the bullets, the lights in the room happened to go out, and he could no longer hear the faint rumble of the generator downstairs. Jack knew that the diesel in the generator must have run out, plunging the house back into darkness.

Turning on the flashlight he carried, Jack tidied up and walked towards Bai Ru's room.

...

Waking up in the morning, a bright light shone through the heavy curtains, allowing everything in the bedroom to be clearly seen. Jack rubbed his eyes and looked to his side, originally wanting to wake Bai Ru, who was resting on his arm, but found that she had already opened her beautiful eyes and was staring at him without blinking.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Jack turned over and smiled as he made eye contact with Bai Ru.

"If you sleep with me, you have to be responsible for me for the rest of your life!" Bai Ru smiled brightly but said something that almost made Jack faint.

"No way? Is that really called sleeping with you? It seems like there's still quite a bit missing, right?" Jack rolled his eyes helplessly.

"Besides acting, this is my first time sleeping with a man on a Thomas bed! If it weren't for the lack of internet right now, I would definitely post a picture of you holding me while I sleep online. Even if we didn't sleep, it would look like we did, and you wouldn't be able to deny it!"

Bai Ru grinned like a sly little fox, and after giving Jack a quick kiss on the lips, she blushed and shrank back a bit, shyly saying, "But sleeping with you isn't exactly comfortable. That thing of yours pressed against me all night; it was so uncomfortable! I spent the whole night in a daze, dreaming that you were determined to 'run a red light'!"

"Ha~ I wouldn't be so heartless as to disregard your well-being!" Jack gently wrapped his arms around Bai Ru, pressing his hard steel gun against her lower abdomen once again, and then whispered, "Hey~ Ru Ru, can I ask you something? Do you still have that purple lingerie?"

"Which purple lingerie?" Bai Ru lifted her head from Jack's chest, looking a bit confused.

"The one from the movie last night, the one you wore when you were in the gun scene. I really liked it; it looked so good!" Jack chuckled, grinning a bit shamelessly.

"Get lost… I think you're a bit of a pervert, right? You like seeing your woman in lingerie while being intimate with another man; are you psychologically twisted?" Bai Ru playfully punched Jack's chest, glaring at him with a face full of anger.

"I swear, it's definitely not for such a filthy reason. It's just that the way you looked in that lingerie during the gun scene really got to me. Honestly, your kind of haggard beauty is just stunning!" Jack raised three fingers, looking serious.

"Isn't that still perverted? Does my injury excite you that much? I can't believe I fell for a bad guy like you!" Bai Ru gave him another flurry of playful punches, until amidst the chaos, Jack took advantage of her again. She then blushed and shot him a glare, pushing his body and said, "Get up, you big pervert!"

"I'm not a pervert, I just like women who play with guns a bit!" Jack said with an awkward smile.

"No need to explain, I can observe for myself whether you're a pervert. By the way, I have something to give you!"

As Bai Ru spoke, her eyes suddenly lit up. She turned around, leaned over the bed, and reached for the bedside table. When she took out a delicate gray box from inside, she adjusted her nightgown, which had slipped down, pulling Jack's left hand from her chest to rest on her thigh, and then opened the box. With a smile, she took out a brown leather strap men's watch.

While fastening the watch onto Jack's wrist, Bai Ru said, "This is a limited edition Panerai couple's watch given to me by a European. You should know Panerai, right? They specifically produce diving watches for the Italian Royal Navy and are said to be the ultimate watch that every tough guy should own. Even Stallone and Schwarzenegger have one! Hmm... it looks really good, just like our big tough guy!"

'It's definitely tough enough, just no place to use it!'

Jack instinctively shifted his lower body and muttered to himself. Then he looked at the large dial Panerai watch on his wrist. Although he liked it, he inexplicably asked, "This... it's not meant for him, is it?"

"I find you really petty, don't I?" Bai Ru's originally smiling face suddenly turned sour. She frowned and said to Jack, "If it were for him, why would I take it out to give to you? Am I that heartless? His wrist isn't even half the size of yours, so it's not suitable for him to wear this kind of watch. That's why I've kept these two watches in the cabinet. I originally wanted to give it to my friend. If you don't want to wear it, just leave it here!"

"Wear it, why not? I like everything you give me!" Jack quickly dodged Bai Ru's reaching hand and coaxed her, "It's perfect, we'll each have one, as a couple! Alright, don't be angry, let's tidy up and go down quickly!"

"Next time you're this petty, I won't let you off!" Bai Ru glared at Jack with resentment, but the next second, she smiled happily, turned around, and took out the women's Panerai watch, playfully asking Jack to put it on her.

"Hubby!" Bai Ru suddenly wrapped her arms around Jack's neck, her eyes sparkling as she said, "I'll eventually be yours, but can't you tell me about some of your things? I don't want to marry someone whose past I know nothing about!"

"Actually, I'm a police officer!" Jack made a ridiculous hand gesture resembling a gun, imitating Tony Leung's style as he boastfully looked at Bai Ru. Bai Ru shot him an annoyed glance and said, "Alright, let's get serious. But don't worry, even if you used to be a pig killer, I would still love you the same. Hehe~"

"Alright! Let's get serious then!" Jack propped himself up on his hands, instinctively glancing at the bedside table. Bai Ru immediately understood and took a cigarette, placing it between her red lips. After lighting it, she sweetly put it in her mouth, then lay on the bed, cradling her face, and happily said, "Okay, I'm all ears now. Can we finally talk about whether I'm marrying a chicken or a dog?"
