"Hurry up! Move as fast as you can, we only have a maximum of two minutes…"
The black helicopter almost landed on the parking lot's ground, right next to the battered Hummer. However, if one looked closely, the helicopter was actually not touching the ground, maintaining a distance of several dozen centimeters above it. This was a technically challenging hover, testing the pilot's experience and control skills; a small mistake could lead to disaster. Yet Jack managed to do it remarkably well, and quite steadily.
Thomas Xu led the charge, running a few steps to the side of the Hummer. Although Boss Hu and Gao Chujing were reluctant, they couldn't just stand by and watch. They gritted their teeth and rushed out of the helicopter. The three of them formed a straight line, passing the weapons from the Hummer back and forth in the most time-efficient manner.
First, four rocket launchers were sent up to the helicopter, followed by a dozen rifles being passed down like a conveyor belt. However, when the three began to move the heaviest ammunition boxes, the helicopter's loud roar finally attracted the attention of the zombies. The horde continuously surged out of the hotel, their eager expressions resembling those of small officials welcoming a high-ranking leader's inspection.
"Let's go, hurry!"
After Thomas Xu handed the last box of ammunition to Boss Hu, he quickly drew a rifle, chambered a bullet with a "click," and began to retreat while shooting at the horde of zombies. Boss Hu and Gao Chujing each carried a box of ammunition, running towards the helicopter like old rascals who had just stolen someone's daughter, panting heavily as they fled. Just as the three of them climbed onto the helicopter, the rifle's magazine ran dry, and the helicopter took off at the fastest speed.
"Goodbye, idiots, hahahaha…"
Thomas Xu leaned against the cabin door, laughing wildly as he waved at the mass of corpses. The sea of bodies surged forward, almost reaching the helicopter's support frame, but none of them had wings. They could only watch helplessly as the helicopter gracefully took off, their faces filled with a huge sense of "loss"!
However, at that moment, a red shadow suddenly burst out from the mass of corpses with lightning speed, stepping on the head of a living corpse on the outermost edge. It leaped high into the air like a martial arts master, heading straight for the helicopter above. Thomas Xu, who was comfortably waving at the horde of corpses from inside the cabin, immediately spotted the red figure. His eyes widened in shock, and he jumped up from the cabin, screaming in horror, "Damn! The hunter is coming after us..."
"Clang..."
The entire helicopter suddenly shook as the leaping hunter grabbed onto the support frame of the helicopter, climbing up with reckless abandon. The four men in the cabin, except for Jack, panicked as if their butts were on fire. Thomas Xu, who had just emptied his magazine, fumbled to change it, while Hu Chujing pulled out a rifle but chose not to fire. Instead, he rushed to the edge of the cabin and swung the rifle down hard.
"Gah..."
The hunter let out a disgusting screech as the rifle struck its head, producing a sound like striking stone. The hunter had already climbed halfway up the support frame, and this blow did not knock it down; instead, it only fueled its ferocity. Seeing Thomas Xu swing the rifle down hard, the hunter suddenly pushed its body and fiercely slashed at the rifle with its claws.
"Damn..."
Thomas Xu looked in disbelief at the rifle in his hand, which was now only half intact, nearly biting his own tongue in fear. The hunter's claws were so sharp that they had cut the rifle in half during a direct clash, allowing the hunter to leap into the cabin. This made Hu Laoda, who had intended to kick it, quickly retract his foot and instinctively grab a nearby cylindrical object, pulling the trigger on the hunter.
"No..."
Thomas Xu was terrified by Hu Laoda's action, nearly losing his voice. The object Hu Laoda grabbed was none other than the rocket launcher they had leaned against the side. The launcher was already loaded and had its safety off, prepared by Thomas Xu for an emergency. Hu Laoda, in a panic, fired it without thinking.
The rocket launcher let out a deafening roar, and a flash of fire erupted from the rear as the olive-green rocket shot out with great force. At that moment, the hunter was standing at the edge of the cabin, ready to unleash a massacre, completely unprepared as the rocket struck it head-on. Its waist bulged backward, and it was sent flying out of the cabin, resembling a "firecracker" that children set off during festivals, with a dazzling flame shooting from its belly and a long tail trailing behind it, creating a remarkably beautiful pose!
Fortunately, the warhead was an armor-piercing round, which would not explode immediately upon hitting a soft target. The hunter, dazed, continued to fly backward, possibly experiencing the most thrilling moment of its life. After a certain distance, the warhead pressed against its belly finally exploded, bursting in the azure sky like a brilliant firework, though countless body parts flew everywhere, which was somewhat nauseating!
"Cough... you fucking... cough cough..."
The biggest drawback of the 40 rocket launcher is that it produces an enormous amount of smoke after firing, instantly filling the helicopter's cabin with white smoke, making it nearly impossible to see. The four men inside were choking and tearing up, and the helicopter started to fly erratically. Thomas Xu was so frustrated that he lay on the ground cursing Hu Laoda. If they weren't still in the air, he would have jumped out without a second thought.
...
On an overpass about six or seven kilometers from the hotel, several colorful tents had been set up. A group of women were sitting together, chatting out of boredom. Even though they were wearing various sunshades on their heads, the scorching sun still made them drowsy, giving them the feeling that they were about to be roasted alive!
"Bai Ru, how's it going?" A slender, attractive woman slowly walked to the edge of the overpass and asked the taller, more beautiful woman beside her with a frown, "Has Lin Ye not responded yet?"
"Since the call ended three hours ago, there has been no contact!" Bai Ru gently shook her head while looking at the walkie-talkie in her hand. Since the call was abruptly cut off in the morning, the walkie-talkie had hardly left her hand. Standing under the blazing sun for almost half an hour, the fine beads of sweat on her forehead were dried up as soon as they appeared, and even this beauty couldn't help but look a bit haggard, her image suffering greatly!
However, Bai Ru seemed to no longer care about her appearance. She didn't even wipe the grease off her forehead and turned back, looking at the woman speaking to her, asking, "Cao Mei, do you think Jack might have run into some trouble? He should have been back by now!"
"I can't say for Thomas Xu and the others, but I can guarantee that Lin Ye will be fine. And one more thing, haven't you noticed?" Cao Mei raised her eyebrows wisely and then said irritably, "Lin Ye must have run into a woman; they might even be in bed together. Otherwise, why wouldn't he contact us last night?"
"Impossible, Jack he..." Bai Ru's expression changed rapidly, but recalling how Jack had abruptly cut off the call last night for such a long time and how he was still hesitant this morning, her face turned grim. Yet, she stubbornly insisted, "It's impossible, Jack is not that kind of person!"
"Lin Ye is certainly not that kind of person, but what if the woman is that kind of person?" Cao Mei shrugged helplessly and said, "We all know Lin Ye's character; he tends to be indecisive when it comes to women. Didn't you almost help him with that the other night when you took the initiative? Who knows, there might be a stunning beauty in that hotel just like you!"
"Hmph~ don't judge others by yourself!" Bai Ru shot a cold glare at Cao Mei, but Cao Mei laughed dismissively, "Bai Ru, if we're talking about looks and charm, I might indeed be a few points behind you, but when it comes to understanding men's thoughts, you probably can't catch up with me! If you want to know if I'm right, just wait until Lin Ye and the others come back, and it will be clear! Just hope that when they do, we don't end up facing a big beauty we can't handle!"
