It still feels like yesterday to Lila when she barely escaped from the clutches of Marcus, her husband. The trauma still haunts her like a nightmare and how she escaped from Chicago to New York is still a miracle she thanks God for but she feels heavily guilty that she didn't try enough to get away until that unfortunate night where he beat her so much that she went into early labor, her poor preterm baby , she can still remember holding his lifeless body.
