Chapter 2 - Eight legged nightmare

Instantly the car screeched to a halt as streets began to flood with people. They ran in masses, like cockroaches.

One of the creature's legs made landfall. Despite it's large size the earth didn't waiver as a golden barrier appeared beneath.

Within mere seconds the creature had managed to pull the remained of its body out of the rift, and displayed it's grotesque figure for all to see.

It resembled a spider in the way humans would understand one, yet it was nothing like a spider at all. It had all it's traits, the eyes, mandibles and eight legs yet was far from a normal looking spider.

It towered over skyscrapers and nearly all of its body floated above the city. The four mandibles protruding from the thorax of the creature clicked violently causing slight vibrations.

The millions of tiny, human sized beady eyes all over its body surveyed the surrounding like a hawk on the hunt.

Ethan sighed heavily as all three of them got out of the car. The driver held Jesse close to his chest in his arms and piggybacked Ethan.

"Is everything set to go?" the driver asked.

Both Ethan and Jesse nodded. The driver clutched Jesse harder as he shot of with inhuman power.

In mere moments he was already running atop cars at speeds human could never hope to achieve naturally.

Ethan's face remained blank as he stared at the motionless beast.

'Disgusting stuff'

Before he could look away an unholy screech resonated through the air. Ethan immediately placed his hands on his ears and tightened his legs.

He gritted his teeth as he tried to look at the creature but it was blurry because of the screech.

It stopped. Just as he romved his hands the ground began violently shaking, threatening an earth quake.

Ethan glanced back at the spider and saw it using six of its eight limbs to rapidly punch at the ground which refused to yield.

With each strike from the spider the ground responded with a glowing impenetrable barrier.

Just as the creatures strikes intensified a miracle occurred. It was as if the sealed God himself and come down to aid them.

A blinding white flash, brighter than the sun and warmer than the core appeared directly above the creature.

Ethan tried to look but the light stung his eyes threatening to burn them. In the next instance he saw the light come down with impossible speeds.

The creature screamed weakly as the bright light descended onto its back pinning it on the ground.

It let out one last moan before seemingly dying but it was already out of Ethan's sight by then.

He turned and looked forward with a scowl on his face.

'They always have to ruin everything'

They finally reach the Michel estate as the driver drops them off and leaves.

"Your father was awfully fast today. Could he have been following us?" Ethan asked stealing a glance at her.

"Of course he was following us, duh" She responded with a smile.

Ethan scoffs as they both turn and head inside. They open the door and place their bags on a rack near the door.

As they grow closer to the living room they can hear two distinct voices chatting.
