Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Afen’s Ornament

"Sorry, Uncle Finn. I'm afraid I won't be able to make things easy for you during this time."

Shen thought silently as he walked down the street.

After activating the identity memories arranged by the system, he had roughly figured out how it operated.

There was one crucial difference from what he originally believed.

If he died in this transmigrated world, he would not die in the real world.

What had transmigrated was only his consciousness—his soul, or something similar. The body he now possessed was merely an avatar created by the system.

If he died here, his soul would simply return.

In short, he no longer had to worry about sudden death.

When he realized this, Shen finally let out a long breath of relief.

If death was no longer a threat, then he could stir up far greater waves in this world.

After all, if he wasn't afraid of dying, what was there to fear?

He hailed a taxi, gave the driver a destination at random, and leaned back in the rear seat, eyes flickering as he calculated his next move.

He already knew that anything he obtained in this world could be brought back to reality.

Anything.

But there was a condition.

He had to fill the Energy Bar floating before him.

The Energy Bar could be filled multiple times. Each time it reached full capacity, he could take one item back. However, the difficulty increased with every subsequent fill.

To charge it, he needed Plot Points.

Plot Points could be earned by:

Obtaining important items.

Participating in major plot events.

Building relationships with key characters.

The first two provided fixed amounts.

The third depended on the depth of the character's impression of him.

At that moment, the progress bar in Shen's vision was already over forty percent full.

He hadn't obtained any items.

He hadn't even participated in a major event.

Simply meeting Jade and reconnecting with Finn, Rasu, and Zhou had nearly filled half the bar.

Unexpected.

But reasonable.

Those four were core characters in Jackie Chan Adventures, and Jade was practically the embodiment of the Righteous Chi side.

So next…

He had to insert himself directly into the conflict between Righteous Chi and Dark Chi.

Meanwhile, inside Finn's car—

Zhou finally spoke up.

"Finn, where did you get that money? We haven't been paid in months. What you gave Shen was at least five thousand dollars."

"Sharp eyes, Zhou," Finn replied casually, not explaining further.

"This isn't about eyesight. Where did the money come from?" Zhou pressed. "Rasu, say something. Don't you care?"

Rasu glanced at Finn through the rearview mirror.

"What about that gold pendant you always wear? The one you only take off when you shower. Why isn't it around your neck?"

Finn touched his collar subconsciously.

"So you sold it?" Zhou sighed. "Was that really necessary?"

"Of course it was necessary," Finn said firmly.

"I can't let my nephew spend his own living expenses while staying with me. Besides, once we complete the boss's mission, we'll be rich."

The car slowed to a stop.

"That's enough about this," Finn said. "Focus on the task."

Old Man's Antique Shop.

After much commotion, Jackie had finally accepted the fact that he had a niece.

He already felt overwhelmed—and didn't realize this was only the beginning.

Ding-dong.

The bell above the door rang.

Jackie quickly leaned his broom against the wall and hurried behind the counter.

"Hello. Welcome to Old Man's Antique Shop. How can I help you?"

Three unfamiliar men stood before him.

The leader, wearing a white jacket, asked calmly, "Are you Jackie Chan? The archaeologist?"

It was Finn.

Behind him stood Rasu and Zhou.

Jackie blinked.

"I wouldn't say that. I just have a slight interest in ancient civilizations."

Finn didn't bother with modesty.

"We heard you found a shield in a Bavarian castle. Our boss is very interested in buying it."

Jackie's eyes sharpened slightly.

"That shield? What a coincidence. I've already donated it to the university for research."

The lie was obvious.

Finn saw through it instantly—but chose not to expose him directly.

"It seems that's true," Finn said lightly, glancing at Rasu.

Rasu understood.

He reached out and casually pushed over a vase on the display shelf.

One vase hit another.

Then another.

A domino chain reaction began.

Two vases fell at the same time.

Jackie immediately rolled forward awkwardly, catching them both just before they hit the floor.

Before he could breathe, Zhou stepped forward and tipped over yet another vase.

From Finn's perspective, there was no way this clumsy archaeologist could save all three.

Either the new vase would shatter—

Or the two in his hands would.

Even Jade, peeking nervously from behind the counter, thought the same.

Then something unexpected happened.

Jackie hooked a floor cushion with his foot and kicked it upward, perfectly bouncing the falling vase into the air.

At the same time, he tossed the two vases in his hands upward.

All three vases were airborne.

In one fluid motion, Jackie sprang up, catching them one by one and placing them safely back on the shelf.

Then he leaped lightly onto a nearby chair, crossed his legs, and folded his hands calmly.

The movements were smooth, graceful—nothing like an ordinary archaeologist.

The Finn trio stared in stunned silence.

Jade gasped in admiration.

Finn recovered first.

He glanced toward the counter and suddenly rested his hand on Jade's head, smiling coldly.

"Then you should retrieve the shield. That would be good for both you and your family, Jackie Chan."

His expression hardened.

"Bring it back tomorrow."

The trio turned to leave.

Then—

A familiar voice sounded from behind them.

"Uncle Finn… are you threatening them?"
