Chapter 1 - Awakening Ceremony

A youth appearing in his early 20's died a pathetic death. Getting hit by a car but fate had its own twist and turns. Yet somehow he finds himself lying in a luxurious looking bed.

"Where-" Before he form a sentence reluctantly stopped. He wore a expression of surprise and disbelief.

"What's wrong with my voice?" He messaged his throat but it bore no result. He hastily ran toward the mirror beside the window.

"T-this..." On the mirror reflection appeared a youth in his late teens. Scarlet red hair, azure blue eyes. He had striking feature that would make any girl fall in love on sight but the youth had other concerns.

"This can't be. It must be a joke. Maybe I am dreaming." He laughed wryly. He pinched his cheeks, punched his face but this dream he believed to didn't end and realization stuck him in a way he didn't demand.

"This really is Shuen Tie!" His voice trembled. He had reincarnated as a character of the novel he was reading last night until he died on a car accident while heading to office.

...

It has been a week since he reincarnated in the novel. During this time here he learned a lot. Apparently he possessed the body of Shuen Tie a minor background character; who later takes the role to poison the main character later achieving public execution. But to Shuen's surprise the storyline of the novel completely changed. He was in the Shadow sect one of the major sect's in the murim. Aside from that he gained a system exactly like the webnovel he used to read when he still lived on earth.

Knock! Knock! Knock!

A sudden knock yanked Shuen from his reverie.

"Come in." He said in a calm voice

"Shuen, Senior brother is waiting let's go" A youth in his early teens entered the room. He had black hair, yellowish eyes and wore a gray robe. He is Xin Tie, Shuen's younger brother.

"..." Shuen nodded and followed Xin.

In a few minutes they reached a place filled with vegetation. A long table along with few high chairs with ancient patterns were well organized. On the far end of the table a middle aged man sat. Beside him a women appearing late 30's sat.

"Shuen, glad you came" A rough voice spoke. It was Bai Tie his older brother.

"Brother Bai its god to see you" Shuen bowed and spoke in a calm voice as he sat beside him.

"Shuen, Tomorrow is the awakening ceremony. Let's hope u awaken great talent" He laughed

"Dear, don't pressure Shuen. Even if he doesn't he is our child" The woman spoke in a complex tone.

"Yeah. The patriarch won't kick our son he promised me"

Hearing this the women felt relief. After some small talk and eating Shuen and his family embarked for the Shadow sect. It would take 16 hours to reach. So they decided to take off early. The servants on the gate said their farewell.

…

Next day,

Before them stood a tall gate carved of stone bricks and ancient patterns. The guards bowed recognizing them. Shuen was stunned seeing the architecture this close. He never knew one day he would set his foot on this place.

They paid their respect to the patriarch and entered the main hall, where the ceremony would commerce. Shuen along with his family went to the main hall. There on both side children his stood waiting for them. Steadily Shuen made his way to the hall and stood to the left line.

"Fellow disciple today is very important day in your life. As you will awaken talents and follow the way of dao, to immortality! " The patriarch spoke with conviction in a deep voice. He released his spiritual pressure and the ground beneath Shuen started to crumble it stopped as the door behind opened.

Behind him appeared a path of rocks, stone and grass. At the far end stood a lady and she stood in a dignified passion. Before her there was a table on top of that a fiery spiritual ball. From the ball radiated strong qi energy.

"The lady would call your name one by one. When your name are spoken go place your hand. If the ball glow's means you can be a cultivator otherwise you will be casted away"

Upon hearing the last part Shuen's heart pounded and nervousness befall on him.

"Min Hao" The lady called out her voice calm and cold.

A boy with brown hair and red eyes stepped up. He wore a confident and calm expression. He was the definition of all cultivator. He placed his hand within a second the ball glowed bright. It didn't stop there it started to get brighter and brighter until it became purple. Even the lady who bore a cold expression let out a shock.

"Its a Heavenly Fire Spirit Root!" The women exclaimed

Despite this the youth didn't faze a bit. He remained calm and collected. Everyone attention shifted to him. Some felt admiration, some envied him. Regardless everyone was stunned. Even Shuen was staring in disbelief.

"Chen Haoran"

A youth in mist blue hair stepped up. He was timid and fragile looking. He was very nervous even stumbled on the way. Getting many mockery. Upon placing his hand the glow didn't appeared as soon as Min hao. After couple of seconds later a faint glow appeared.

"Its a Three-Element Spirit Root" Unlike Min hao the lady expression this time the lady didn't show any expression. Fellow disciple started to mock him. Chen sighed in relief that he would not get casted out at least.

The lady called out names. There were some mixed spirit root ones who were casted out and low tier.

"Bai Yuexin" A woman with white hair and red eyes stepped in. She had a cold expression unwavering. Without hesitation she placed her hand. Within second the spiritual ball started to glow brightly. It started to go brighter until it became sky blue.

"Its an Elite tier spirit root ice!" The lady expression brightened.

Everyone stared at her with admiration. Some boys took silent glance at her as she was as beautiful as a doll.

"Shuen Tie" Finally it was Shuen's turn. All eyes were on him, he felt his heart pound loudly and he felt extremely nervous.

Shuen hastily stepped up and placed his hand on the spiritual ball.
