Chapter 2 - Character Creation

"Hello. I'm the AI of the game, Chronos, and I'm here to assist you in creating your character. May I know what name you would like to use?" the AI asked.

"Mahesvara," Jayce answered.

"That's a cool name, and no one has taken it yet. Are you sure you want to use 'Mahesvara' as your gaming ID?" Chronos asked.

"Yes, I confirm," Jayce said.

"Alright. Would you like to modify your appearance?"

"I'll make my hair longer and jet black. Change my eye color to silver-gray. That should be perfect," Jayce replied.

"And your build?" Chronos asked.

"Lean and muscular. Keep the height the same as mine."

"Very well. This is the final outcome of your character. You can say or think 'Status' at any time to view your character profile. Before we proceed, you'll need to roll for your Luck attribute. It's completely random, and there are no items in the game that can increase Luck. So… I hope the goddess of luck blesses you," Chronos said with a laugh.

Jayce hovered over the roll button. He knew Luck was one of the most important hidden stats in the game.

"I pray to every saint and god out there… please give me high luck," he muttered as he pressed the button.

A chime echoed.

"Ding, ding, ding! Congratulations. You've rolled 99 for your Luck attribute," Chronos announced. "That's extremely high. I suggest you don't boast about it. If other players find out, it could start a war. Best keep it secret."

"Wow… that's really high," Jayce said, stunned. "Is there anyone else with the same Luck?"

"I'm afraid I can't disclose that information. Player stats are private. You'll find out in-game if you ever encounter someone similar," Chronos replied.

Chronos continued, "Now then, what class would you like to play?

A Swordsman, protector of kingdoms and empires.A Mage, capable of devastating magical attacks. An Archer, master of long-range combat and hunting.A Tamer, friend to beasts and monsters. An Assassin, swift and deadly in the shadows.A Gunner, able to eliminate enemies from afar.A Berserker, a relentless force in battle.A Lancer, the spearhead of melee warfare.A Martial Artist, fighting with fists and specialized weapons.

Or perhaps an auxiliary class such as Alchemist, Doctor, Enhancer, Blacksmith, Cook, Engineer, or Musician?"

Jayce paused. "I thought there was another class… one not listed?"

Chronos hesitated. "Ah… you must be referring to the Versatile Class. I don't recommend it. The class is extremely difficult. No one plays it anymore. Everyone who tried eventually quit and changed classes. Are you sure you want to choose it?"

"Yes," Jayce said without hesitation. "It's my dream. My fantasy. I want to wield all kinds of magic and master every weapon. I want to become a menace in every field of combat. To master everything and learn everything. That's what I want to achieve. That's what I will become."

Chronos was silent for a moment. "This is the first time I've heard someone speak so passionately about becoming a Versatile. If that's your decision… then so be it. Good luck. Your random talent will be generated once your journey begins."

"Thank you, Chronos. I'll reach the pinnacle as a Versatile," Jayce said confidently.

"I hope so," Chronos replied. "There is one advantage to having a Versatile class: you can change it only once later if things become too difficult. Many who chose Versatile switched after only a few levels. I hope you remain committed. Now then, what weapon would you like as your starter?"

"I want to start with guns."

"Very well. You have two choices: a musket or a pistol. The pistol is best for mid-range combat, while the musket excels at long-range shots."

"I'll take the pistol," Jayce decided.

"Excellent choice. As the AI of New Reality, I wish you the best. You will now be transported to the starting village. Enjoy your adventure and aim for the pinnacle you spoke of."

Light engulfed Jayce as the world shifted.

Once he had been transported, Chronos spoke quietly to someone unseen.

"We have another Versatile player. The last one was three years ago… and switched to Mage at level five. This one looks promising. He reminds me of the Master."

Chronos paused.

"I wish you success, Mahesvara."
