Chapter 2 - Chapter 2: Master Rhodes

A short while later, a man with the complexion of pure bronze entered the confines of the reinforced room.

He locked his glance to the boy that was currently restrained, awaiting the greatest challenge of his life.

"Hello young man, To get formalities out of the way, I'm ascended rank awakened: Jonathan Rhodes. You can call me Master Rhodes for the sake of convenience"

He continued.

"I understand that with your imminent venture into your first nightmare isn't a particularly joyous occasion, I hope that you'd give me the honor to learn your name."

A strange request to ask someone who's about to venture into their likely death, but not one that's out of the realm of accomplishment.

''I don't see it as a problem, Master Rhodes. My given name is Mahito. My dad has always been a little bit of a spiritualist by nature, so he thought to give me that name to fit the formless me that he just so happened to pick up one day."

"Interesting, not many in this day and age practice, let alone reference such concepts of old."

He smiled

"It's quite refreshing to hear, I appreciate you sharing such a thing about you, Mahito."

"Now, to move onto more pressing matters, I have another question to ask you.; How familiar are you with Nightmares and the whole awakening process?"

"I've already been informed about what potential scenarios could occur. In short, I have to make my way through whatever trial the spell might throw at me , and find a way to conclude it. "Most would look at the young man with either a mixture of skepticism or pity at the utterance of such careless words.

"Clever lad: correct for the most part. In addition, One thing that should be mentioned is that nightmares are unpredictable in structure; it can test a person's will, combat power, and even sanity. With that taken into consideration, don't get stuck in the mindset that it has one clear way to conquer it."

"With that said, I wish for your return to the waking world."

Shortly after Master Rhodes' smooth utterance of encouragement, Mahito drifted wistfully to sleep: awaiting what is to come.
