After a brief moment of melancholy, Lina quickly regained her composure. She gestured for Count of Foyle to sit down, straightened her dress, and settled into the chair behind her desk, adopting an attentive posture. She certainly did not believe Robert had come all this way simply to reminisce about their past encounters.
Robert looked at her in surprise. The woman before him was so different from the princess he remembered that he could hardly reconcile the two. In his recollection, Lina had been a gentle, refined girl with a soft voice and an innocent expression. Because she knew so little about the world around her, she had always seemed cautious and uncertain, as though she were afraid of making the slightest mistake.
