Apparently, she had never heard of such a dish before. Lina briefly explained how to prepare steamed egg custard, and Rose hurried away after carefully memorising the instructions. About half an hour later, she returned with a bowl of freshly steamed eggs.
Lina hadn't expected much, but the chef had done a surprisingly good job. The eggs were tender and smooth, with a delicate texture that made them easy to swallow even while she was still feeling unwell. There was no soy sauce, vinegar, or sesame oil to enhance the flavour, only a little salt, but Lina was so hungry that she ate the custard in large mouthfuls despite the heat.
In her previous life, she had hated eggs so much that she wouldn't even touch them. Now, however, a simple bowl of steamed egg custard nearly brought tears to her eyes. She had never imagined that something so ordinary could taste this wonderful.
