After greeting the three women and exchanging a few polite words, Alexander left as quickly as he had appeared.
Before following him, one of his special assistants, who had been close behind him throughout the evening, stopped beside Susan and asked for her contact details. He did it politely, saying they could keep in touch in the future.
Susan stared after him for several seconds.
She had clearly misjudged the man.
The assistant who had blocked her attempts to reach Alexander earlier had seemed almost impossible to deal with. She had been certain he would shut her down again tonight.
Instead, she had his contact information.
"Was that really Alexander Sterling?" Susan dropped back into her chair, all traces of her earlier professional composure gone. "Someone pinch me."
Jodie immediately pulled a small mirror from her handbag and checked her reflection. She adjusted the newly curled fringe around her forehead, looking rather pleased with herself.
