Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Buying a Car & The Ten-Draw Gacha!

In terms of family background, Olivia should have been a standard-issue heiress—a "white, rich, and beautiful" archetype.

Unfortunately, her mother died when she was nine. Her father remarried, and her stepmother was a drug addict. When her addiction spiraled out of control, Olivia's father cut off her allowance. In a frenzy for cash, the stepmother did something unthinkable: while the father was away, she sold Olivia to scum with depraved appetites to fund her habit.

Olivia's life and destiny were irrevocably altered.

Upon reaching adulthood, Olivia hunted down and killed the monsters from her past, ran away from home, and completely severed ties with her father.

Later, she would go to Midnight, Texas, be taken in by a vampire, become an assassin, and eventually become that vampire's partner.

"If you don't have a direction in life right now, why not stick with me for a while?"

Shane thought for a moment and smiled. "I'm a wanderer right now, planning to travel and see the world. I need a driver. No salary, but I cover all expenses, and your consumption level will match mine. Interested?"

"Are you trying to help me, or do you have another agenda?" Olivia asked.

Shane shrugged. "I have a license, but I can't drive."

Olivia scoffed. "You have a license but can't drive? Who are you kidding? How did you pass the test?"

"I have money!"

"..."

"I hate rich people!" Olivia cursed viciously, then asked, "Where's your car? Wait, don't tell me you don't have one?"

She remembered Shane asking the waitress about dealerships earlier. His questions were clearly those of a novice who had never bought a car before.

"Correct. As a reward, you can buy whatever car you like. After all, you'll be the one driving it."

"Really? Any car?" Olivia's eyes widened slightly in excitement. "What's the budget?"

Shane did a quick calculation. "One hundred thousand dollars."

"Evil rich people!"

Two hours later, a brand-new Audi A8 rolled out of the dealership.

Plates mounted, paperwork complete.

The car's sticker price was $120,000. With taxes and some "expedited processing fees" to get the plates immediately, the total came to around $140,000—a bit over budget.

Fortunately, Olivia took her time choosing the car. Shane used that window to recover some chakra, sneak into the restroom, summon a shadow clone, and have it furiously do push-ups and sit-ups to spike its heart rate. That barely scraped together enough funds. Otherwise, his debut as a tycoon buying his first car would have been a humiliating disaster.

"Boss, where to?" Olivia turned, raising an eyebrow at Shane in the passenger seat.

"Do you have luggage?"

"No."

"Then let's head straight to Colorado."

"On it."

Olivia didn't ask why and focused on driving. Shane opened his system panel.

Reviewing his stats, Shane opened the lottery section and started drawing.

Ding!

"Consumed 100 points."

"Reward obtained: Shuriken."

He drew again.

Ding!

"Consumed 100 points."

"Reward obtained: Shuriken."

Shuriken again?

Shane had high hopes for the lottery, but… this was it?

Sure, shuriken were consumables, but this drop rate was ridiculous. Forget it. He'd do a ten-draw.

The ding-ding-ding chimes rang out in rapid succession. When the sound stopped, Shane tallied his ten-draw rewards.

Shuriken x3

Kunai x2

Explosive Tag x2

Fuhma Shuriken x1

Points x10

Konoha Forehead Protector x1

The standard ninja tools—shuriken, kunai, Fuhma shuriken, explosive tags—weren't worth mentioning. The 10 points were just a consolation prize. What really caught Shane's interest was the Konoha Forehead Protector.

In the anime, a forehead protector was just a decoration and proof of ninja status. For Shane, it should have been the least valuable item.

But the system-issued protector had a special effect: wearing it accelerated chakra recovery. The specific rate varied from person to person.

More importantly, only by wearing the protector would the system recognize him as a "ninja." In other words, the forehead protector was the unique key to unlocking the "Ninja Training" feature!

Shane's anticipation for the lottery reignited. He had enough points left for two more draws, so he went for it.

Ding!

"Consumed 100 points."

"Reward obtained: Scroll."

Ding!

"Consumed 100 points."

"Reward obtained: Earth Release: Underground Voyage."

Scrolls were common items in Naruto. Ninjas could seal ninjutsu, items, or weapons inside them and summon them when needed.

Super Beast Scroll required a scroll as a base, so Shane was happy to get one. The special ink for the Hungry Tiger sealing jutsu was easy to solve, but the drawing surface and sealing scroll were harder to come by.

Earth Release: Underground Voyage: A technique that uses chakra to turn the surrounding earth into a fluid state, allowing the user to swim through the ground as if it were water.

It was a C-rank jutsu with no offensive power, but for escape and infiltration, it was extremely convenient. It was a powerful supplement to Shane's existing arsenal.
