Chapter 3 - Awakening

(1st person)

I awoke from my slumber with pain in my eyes, laying on my back darkness greeted me like an old friend, I took in a deep breath the air didn't taste right, it tasted like the ingredients the demons used in their homeland, as I sat up my head slam into and straight through something hard. Groaning as my body arched and trembled I stood to my feet as I felt my heavy sabatons dig into the ground beneath me I felt lighter, not mentally or spiritually but physically, my armor was designed to ground me but from the weight I felt from my step something was wrong. Raising and dropping my arm I was quick to figure out why, the gravity was weak, so very weak, even an untrained peasant would be able to jump over my Castle in this gravity.

My night vision took effect in seconds and I found myself in a small metal room, it had a bed, desk and toilet, all much worse than the ones in my castle and one wall had a small crack down it, thinking that must be the door I approached it only for a deep gravely voice to interrupt me.

"Wait right there and don't try anything, I have questions and you'll give me answers"

My mind spun, it wasn't magic they used, wasn't psychic, then how? My eyes scanned the room till they stopped on a weird round object in the upper corner and before I could speak the lights flashed on, strange lights I could feel the small lightning coursing through the walls powering the clear thing above giving off the light. I could see it all, my eyes taking in all the small streaks of lightning and heat, running through the walls like snakes, I reached for the desk to steady myself only for the poor thing to crumble under my weight, using a bit of magic I steadied myself.

The weird door slid open to reveal a strange man dressed like a bat, a green man in tight clothing, Maybe a large goblin-elf and a shorter girl in what I could only assume is magician clothing from the brothel zones. I stared since they only came up to my breastplate, I tried reaching for my sword only to discover it was gone. The green man spoke first as I got ready.

"We mean you no harm, we only wish for you to follow us so we may have a conversation. If you are looking for your sword it disappeared from your hand last night"

Figuring it might give me some answers to the weird place I find myself and the weird people I slowly nodded. But I was no fool, my magic surged through my body protecting and enhancing me, the magic in the air drained into me almost with joy as if it had not been used properly in ages, the strange magician gasped eyes going wide as I did this prompting the bat looking one to reach for his belt.

The Magician spoke in surprise and wonder.

"What did you do? How did you do that? I've never seen magic react that way."

Awh, Cute, this little one has never seen true magic, before I could answer the bat one whispered something and they all nodded before motioning for me to follow them. which I did now that I was channeling magic and felt no hostility. I will need to remind these people it is rude to interrupt a king, If I had been far younger or a human king they would have been imprisoned, executed or attacked.

I followed them through this strange ship and I say ship because through the windows I could see stars, they lead me down a few halls and into a rather large room, each of them taking a seat at a table. Looking at the smallish chair that was for me I inwardly scoffed, really I'm much taller and larger than them how would that seat fit me or keep my armor from crushing it, pushing the small chair aside I willed magic to craft me a large chair, one that could seat two of them, cushioning it with a large pillow made of magic I sat down.

The bat glared at me, the magician was practically drooling and the green man shook his head, I could feel it wasn't at me rather who ever gave me a small chair, well normal sized for them. Then the Bat spoke.

"Who are you and where do you come from."

Looking at him I crossed my armored legs and rested my hands on the sides of my chair.

"I am king Aurelia Marcella Luna, Beloved of the moon Goddess, friend to magic and guardian of an age long past. I come from my Kingdom Lunaria, You should have heard of no matter what kingdom this is. Now then as a royal even if prisoner I wish to meet your ruler."

Something is wrong I thought, they all gave me a strange look like I spoke in the monster language, then the bat asked me something truly strange.

"What year do you come from?"

He also whispered something maybe he thought I couldn't hear.

"Alfred dig through the medieval age files for a lunaria kingdom."

Sitting up slightly I answered.

"Hmm I do believe it was the 800th year after the fall of the fire Elemental Emperor. It shouldn't have been that long since..."

My head throbbed, memories came back of my kingdoms end, I gasped for air the very room shook from my inhale, my eyes clouded as the tears fell, my hands cupped my face and for the first time in centuries I cried. My voice strained and cracked as I spoke, the very air filled with magic trembled, I could feel the magic coil around me trying to calm me to share my pain.

"M-my kingdom, my s-subjects, they're gone all of them g-gone"

The three before me couldn't move, not even there mouths as magic bound them, not to hurt, not to restrain but to protect them from the whirlwind of my magic infused emotion. I looked at them from my hands, the green man held sympathy in his eyes, the magician fear and the bat he seemed to be thinking and scheme like my aid used to.

Slowly I closed my eyes and magic responded, holding me as I fell asleep the pain and grief had drained me, slowly magic released the three as I fell deeper in to my dreams.

Batman regained control first attempting to move forward only to be repelled gently by a blue bubble around the king, J'onn was the next to move but her didn't move back, he hugged Zatanna who was crying. Magic had let her feel the kings pain, let her know it was really not something faked, slowly she got to her feet before Batman could speak she cut him off.

"L-leave her be Bruce, that wasn't an attack and it wasn't a show, she is in pain and magic is helping her."

Batman looked to J'onn who nodded before exiting the room with Zatanna, after a few seconds watching king Aurelia he moved out of the room and disappeared, as he moved he spoke softly into his earpiece.

"Alfred start a new file labeled King, note advanced magic ability and super-strength. Possible time travel or reality hop. Armor that weighs enough to crush a car and hard enough to not be scratched by promethium. Possible to distract with talk of her kingdom and people. Leave file open for more intel."

That night in the watch tower many heard about the king out of time, Zatanna returned to her father to look up things about old magic, J'onn kept a kind watch on there guest and Batman with the help of Alfred search through everything they could find about ages past.
