Chapter 2 - Chapter 1: The Boy Who Chose Peace

Death was… disappointing.

Hunter Zolomone didn't feel pain. There was no dramatic truck-kun, no tragic last words. Just the flicker of an anime battle scene reflected in his tired eyes at three in the morning—then darkness.

When he opened his eyes again, he was standing barefoot on smooth black marble beneath a sky of swirling galaxies.

Stars drifted like embers in an endless cosmic ocean. Nebulae blossomed in colors his old human eyes could never have processed. Before him stood a man clad entirely in black—black coat, black gloves, black boots. Even his hair and eyes seemed to absorb light.

The man's presence bent reality around him.

"Ah," the figure said calmly. "You're awake."

Hunter blinked. "…Am I dead?"

"Yes."

"That was fast."

The man turned slightly, gazing at a spiral galaxy spinning in his palm. "Call me ROB."

Hunter stared. "That's… not ominous at all."

ROB chuckled. "Relax. I am what you would call a god. Or at least one among many. You died prematurely due to a cosmic clerical error."

"Of course I did."

"I am here to compensate you."

Hunter crossed his arms. "So this is the part where I get reincarnated with cheat powers?"

ROB smiled faintly. "Yes. You will receive four wishes. After that, you will spin two wheels. One for the world. One for the specific Earth or universe."

Hunter's mind raced. He had read enough novels to know how this worked.

"Before that," ROB continued, "ask your questions."

Hunter thought about his life. Nineteen. No girlfriend. Decent grades. A quiet existence filled with manga, anime, and late-night thoughts about what if.

"Will I remember everything?"

"Yes."

"Can I choose a world?"

"No. Random."

Hunter exhaled slowly.

"Alright," he said. "First wish. I want the knowledge of the worlds of Baki, Kengan Ashura, and Lookism."

The galaxy flickered.

"Granted."

Knowledge flooded his mind—not overwhelming, but structured. Martial arts philosophies. Body conditioning techniques. Combat anatomy. Underground fighting strategies. Psychological warfare. Discipline. Survival.

"Second wish," Hunter continued. "I want the perfect body from Lookism—with the natural talent, skill growth, and instinct. I want animals to naturally love me. And instead of the Demon Back from Baki… I want the opposite. An Angel Back. Scars where wings would be."

ROB raised an eyebrow.

"Granted."

Hunter felt something ripple across his back—like phantom wings folding into invisible existence.

"Third wish," Hunter said carefully. "A weaker version of an immunity body. Immune to control attacks, mind attacks, soul attacks, and absorb attacks."

"Granted."

"Fourth wish. A shop system. Missions—big or small. Rewards in system points. I can buy things with those points."

ROB nodded. "Granted."

Two massive golden wheels appeared in the air.

"Spin."

Hunter spun the first wheel.

It whirred across countless names.

DC.

Naruto.

One Piece.

Bleach.

Marvel.

The wheel slowed.

Clicked.

Stopped.

Marvel.

Hunter inhaled sharply.

"Second wheel," ROB said.

The second wheel displayed Earth designations.

Earth-616.

Earth-199999.

Earth-11 AU.

It slowed.

Tick.

Tick.

Stopped.

Earth-11 AU.

ROB smiled slightly. "Ah. Interesting."

"What's Earth-11 AU?"

"A universe where gender dynamics are reversed. Heroes and villains—primarily female."

Hunter blinked.

"…Oh."

ROB turned fully toward him now. "You will retain your name. Hunter Zolomone. You will awaken at nineteen years old. Your background will be adjusted to fit the world naturally."

Hunter felt a strange mix of excitement and nervousness.

"Any advice?" he asked.

ROB's dark eyes gleamed. "Try to live peacefully."

Hunter smiled faintly. "That's the plan."

Light swallowed him whole.

Hunter awoke in a massive bed.

Sunlight streamed through tall windows. Silk curtains swayed gently. The scent of jasmine and cedar filled the air.

He sat up slowly.

His body felt… perfect.

Muscles defined but not exaggerated. Lean yet powerful. Every movement smooth. Controlled. Efficient.

He walked into the bathroom.

The mirror reflected a young man who looked sculpted by art itself. Sharp jawline. Calm eyes. Black hair falling neatly over his forehead.

Across his back—faint pale scars shaped like folded wings.

He flexed slightly.

A subtle ripple moved beneath his skin.

Angel Back.

A translucent blue screen appeared before him.

[System Activated]

He lowered his hand.

Memories integrated seamlessly. He owned a manor in Midtown. Registered legally. Financially secure. No parents. Independent.

Peaceful.

Exactly what he wanted.

Midtown High School buzzed with energy.

Hunter wore a dark hoodie despite the mild weather. It concealed his physique intentionally. He kept his head slightly lowered, movements measured, silent.

He could feel eyes on him.

Not hostile.

Curious.

Earth-11 was… different.

Groups of confident girls dominated the hallways. Athletes. Geniuses. Fighters. Laughter echoed loudly.

Hunter walked past without engagement.

A red-haired girl with sharp green eyes paused mid-conversation as he passed.

"Who's that?" she muttered.

"New transfer," another girl whispered.

Hunter slid into a seat near the back of the classroom.

He did not introduce himself beyond the bare minimum.

He did not volunteer answers.

He kept his world small.

Peaceful.

Until the explosion.

The tremor shook the building.

Students screamed.

Hunter closed his eyes briefly.

Of course.

Outside, smoke rose from three blocks away.

Sirens wailed.

"Stay inside!" a teacher shouted.

Hunter's system chimed.

[Emergency Mission Detected]

Mutant child in danger.

Location: Abandoned warehouse, 3.2 km away.

Reward: 500 Points

Penalty for Ignoring: None

Hunter exhaled.

No penalty.

He could ignore it.

He stood slowly anyway.

Peace… didn't mean indifference.

The warehouse reeked of oil and rust.

Inside, three masked women surrounded a small figure trembling in the center.

The child—maybe eight years old—had glowing blue skin and luminous eyes. Fear radiated off him in waves.

"Freak," one attacker spat.

Hunter stepped through the broken door quietly.

All three women turned.

"Private party, hoodie," one sneered.

Hunter adjusted his sleeves.

"I'm just passing by."

They lunged.

The first punch never reached him.

Hunter shifted half an inch.

Her momentum carried her forward.

His palm tapped her shoulder lightly.

She collapsed instantly.

The second swung a metal pipe.

Hunter caught it between two fingers.

Crushed it.

Kicked once.

She flew across the warehouse.

The third froze.

Hunter's eyes lifted slightly from beneath his hood.

"Leave."

She ran.

Silence returned.

The mutant child stared at him in awe.

Hunter crouched slowly.

"It's okay," he said gently.

The boy flinched at first—but then something shifted.

Animals love me.

The wish echoed in his mind.

The boy stepped forward hesitantly.

"Are… are you going to hurt me?"

"No."

Hunter removed his hoodie.

The boy's eyes widened slightly at the calm strength radiating from him.

"You can't stay here," Hunter said softly. "Do you have family?"

The boy shook his head.

Hunter looked toward the cracked ceiling.

Peace.

So much for that.

He stood.

"Come with me."

The manor was hidden behind layers of subtle enchantment.

To outsiders, the street curved oddly—like something had been forgotten there.

To Hunter, the gates opened smoothly.

Inside, gardens flourished unnaturally lush.

He led the boy through marble halls into a massive chamber.

It resembled five studio apartments merged into one enormous greenhouse sanctuary.

Plants of every type—mundane and faintly magical—grew in careful harmony. Vines curled across wooden beams. Soft moss carpets covered parts of the floor. Small animals—foxes, rabbits, birds—moved freely but never left the room.

Above, a ceiling window reflected the true sky. When it was day outside, sunlight poured in naturally. When night fell, stars appeared vividly.

From outside, however, the ceiling looked like solid stone.

The boy's eyes filled with wonder.

"This… is for you now," Hunter said.

"For me?"

"For anyone who needs it."

The animals approached the child gently.

He laughed weakly for the first time.

Hunter felt something tighten in his chest.

[Mission Complete]

Reward: 500 Points

New Passive Title Unlocked: Shelterer

Effect: Mutant children sense safety near you.

Hunter exhaled slowly.

This was not the life he planned.

But perhaps…

It could still be peaceful in its own way.

Days turned into weeks.

Hunter maintained perfect grades without effort.

He remained distant.

Yet rumors spread.

The quiet boy.

The mysterious transfer.

The one who moved too smoothly.

One afternoon, while leaving school, he sensed it.

A presence.

Watching.

On a nearby rooftop stood a masked figure in red and blue.

Female.

Athletic.

Confident.

Her white eye lenses narrowed slightly.

Spider-Woman of Midtown.

Hunter sighed internally.

He adjusted his hoodie and kept walking.

He wanted peace.

The world, however…

Had noticed him.

And it would not look away.
